Really nice ones using thin metal copper I haven't checked the webpage yet it's sure to be on there.

I really liked it, too. I didn't realize you could get those color changes in the copper by using a heat tool.

Hello ladies and happy every Holiday I missed. To those of you who do know me, I am back and mentally back on track (I think). To those of you who don't, well I was I am a member, love everyone here. Went away to do some great mission work and had some very tragic things happen. Many hours of therapy later, and actually returning to the Dominican I think I have healed, I am not bitter, sad, or frightened to leave my house any more. I am able to talk about it and I feel that I can share with postive feelings now. But enough of that. Am I to late for April? Please tell me that I can play in April? Max is 4 and we just looked at Co-op preschool. HE is a mama's boy and didn't want to go to big boy school yet. Maryanne~ I have a box for you that I need to send, but um lost your address.. So Merry Christmas when it comes. Ahh. I just don't know what to say or who to say it to because I am scared I will leave someone out. I tried to read as many posts as my brain can handle, but I am sure that I will need some help. Babies and ornaments, tornados and ahhh.. I am not in Kansas anymore. Thanks for the link, Rosie! Well, I was hoping the site told how much gold + how much turquoise she used. I tried my own mix and put way too much turquoise. It was TOO green so I just put the rest of my scrap of turquoise in. Turned out a really cool olive, though! :-) Did you notice in the show she said the powder was "Statuary Bronze"? (It looked cool! But I don't think they have those at my local craft shops.) I checked it out at Houston Arts and here's what they say: "Authentic Metal Powders" are metal and carry the characteristics of metal and retain the look and feel of metals. Â If "Authentic Metal Powders" are left unsealed, Brass, Copper, Bronze, Antique Copper, Antique Brass, Oxidized Copper, and Statuary Bronze will patina or oxidize and give a rich antique look to your artwork. Â Metallic powders can be annealed in the oven. This works on items, which will not burn, at 300 degrees for 5 minutes. This technique lends itself well to polymer clay. Does that mean they'll turn green? I've had inks and embossing powders "oxidize" and it's just a kind of dullness, not a nice patina. Oh, yeah, don't you just love those microscope slides!!

Waaah!! I missed it. I love Emi and her projects. I was ticked because the few times I caught Carol this week it was old, old reruns about Halloween that I'd seen at least twice before. :-( Was this the one? Asian-style Kozo-paper Box The little teapot is too cute! But I couldn't get the thumbnail pics to open large. Maybe they show a repeat of it today... :-) By the way, did you see the special Crafter's Country: Up North with Carol Duvall show that was on a week or so ago? The ceramics work of her son and DIL? I may be getting my programs mixed up but I think on this one the artist used a mallot, to which she had previously added globs of hot glue and let it dry, to pound the copper to give the piece added dimension.

Yes, that's the one. I liked the non-textured ones as much as the textured, though. And I was wondering if there's not some other way to get that look without globbing up a mallet. I hate to get my hot glue gun out!

I've always wanted to make a cigar-box purse and I think the copper would look great on one of those. In fact, I've been thinking of changing the back-splash in my kitchen and using copper or tin somehow...

BTW, looking at the website for that project... they mention Memories permanent ink. Is that the kind Walmart sells?

so was this the same project? It aired on May 17th. I wish I could have seen it. Lia you can also bake your copper in the oven like cookies- good for doing lots of ornaments or embellishments at once.

how are they "paper" purses if they're made from copper?

I remember thinking the same thing when I saw the purses done on tv. I would think if you're going to actually use (wear) one of these, it would be better to attach the copper to something more sturdy than paper (cardstock).
Which reminds me, did anyone see the mica-shift PC purses on Carol today?

oh! I get it, the metal is a nice exterior layer. I guess if I'd just followed the link, I would have seen that. (doh)

I once saw some other interesting folded-type (but fabric) purses here: (see link below)

Some of them don't even look that hard to make...

Oh yeah, and I got the patterns for some of these at a conference I went to, once. You could put small things in them, and they look really cool. I haven't tried downloading the things from his site, but I imagine they're similar.

You could try a Yakpak-inspired pouch with Tyvek and colored duct tape. Those poly pouches are such wonderful shapes.
