Decorating a woman's Bra!

I posted this on crafts, but I know there are a lot of crafty people on here too. My daughter has to decorate a woman's bra for a relay for life contest. All decorated bras will be put on a website and everyone will get to vote for the one they like best with a small donation (I think). Anyway, we have both come up with a blank mind! Anybody got any ideas? We sure would appreciate some, thanks. Jane

Jane, go to Wal Mart and get one of those outrageous colored padded bras and then go to the artificial flower department and get some bright colored silk flowers and then take the flowers off the stems and sew them all over the bra. You could do one with fringe all around the edges and straps and then put sequins on the cups. It is all about funny and the crazier the better I think. Just let your mind go.

Find the pink (cancer) ribbons in the craft dept. (like embroidery) and sew them all over the bra with maybe a bigger one in the middle.

I've seen that old crone at my house too. At first I assumed she was a visitor and was just overstaying her time with me like it was in my young days when there always seemed to be a relative or friend or someone extra living in our house. But I have no room here for anyone else, so hope she'll be moving on. Her eyebrows are turning stringy because if she spots an alien white brow it is death by tweezers immediately. She also complains about not finding a good hair dresser in this area, so is letting her hair grow long to wear in a French Twist even though her shoulders hurt like the devil when she has to reach behind her neck like that. The growing out period looks scraggly and is hot on the back of her neck, but she ignored me when I mentioned that. Hardheaded type. She's worn a path between my bed and the bathroom because of a diuretic she has to take for her cute puffy ankles. Her very active IBS is another gross and constantly embarrassing story, and has a way of running her life and causing the extra expense of keeping abundant toilet tissue on hand. She is searching the area for a farrier blacksmith type who would be abler to hack her iron toenails to an acceptable length. She is unable to cut them herself as the process of bending over to reach her feet simply releases the act of "shooting bunnies" to the nth degree. In that area, I try to keep away from her at the food market because she calmly and consistently "shoots bunnies" up and down the aisles, and then pretends to be completely unaware and certainly not responsible. No apologies made. In all fairness I must say the ole' bag has a wonderful sense of humor and can laugh easily at herself as well as at me. She still enjoys looking at men - younger, of course, - drooling a bit - and enjoys thinking how nice it would be to have just some nice, dry smooching once more. Is that a crime? If so, she really doesn't give a damn.

My Mom is 89 and also decided no more bras she has very bad Rheumatoid Arthritis so trying to even pull on a sports bra was impossible. Plus she is a tiny woman. So she is going the cami route or wearing some type of shirt under her regular tops. We went shopping and got several sets with a matching tee or sleeveless top to go under her shirt. She was very happy and did not feel braless. I am not a tiny woman by far so for me the whole bra issue is a true pain. I have RA also and started having a problem pulling on my sports bras and no way could I do the back hooks any longer. The ahh and genie bra was a comic event when I tried those. But I have found thus far the most comfortable and easy to put on bra so I bought several of them in various colors and now I can actually put them on by myself and not be terribly irritated by it, the straps have like memory foam and are so comfy plus they are very supportive. Wirefree front-hook seamless leisure bra by Comfort ChoiceÃ¯Â¿Â½ I wait till they are on sale and then use one of the promo codes I can always find online and get them at a very good price, also since they have the bra club I end up getting one free. I showed these bras to my sister and she tried on one of the new ones I had never worn and I thought she was going to steal it from me. I emailed her the site link and a promo code so she could get her own. LOL For years I wore the all in one teddy which I dearly loved because there was no band around you to crawl up. At home alone I am often with out bra, out in public always wear one.

Y'all, much of what has been said here is why one needs a properly fitted bra! Yes, the band should be tight, but not tight enough to be restricting. Even though you should fit the bra to the last hook, you should be able to hook the middle hook without straining. If you can't, you either need a bigger size to start with, or the bra doesn't have sufficient give. There shouldn't be any strain on your shoulders. Lift with your knees! :) That is, without the shoulder straps on, all the lifting should still be done. The shoulder straps just keep things in place and do that final little shaping. You should not be stabbed by any part of the bra. You should not feel a sigh a relief when you remove it, and should be more comfortable wearing a bra than swinging free. A really well made and fitted bra will do that for you. Otherwise, why bother?.

running, one thing to understand in bra sizing that is so confusing is that a C cup in a 36 is the same size as a D cup in a 34. So if you go from a 36C to a 34C, you are actually shrinking the band size *and* the cup size. To keep the cup size the same, you have to go from a 36C to a 34D. If as with most women the band is too big and the cup too small, then to adjust for that she'd have to go from a 36C to a 34DD. I don't know what you mean by the straps riding up. If the band fits around your chest properly, it should manage 80-90% of your support and the straps should add only about 10-20% of the support. If the band is riding up in the back, it's too large and you should wear a smaller size. The band should fit comfortably around your chest, beneath the girls and it should stay fairly parallel to the floor across your back. The cups should accommodate the girls without wrinkling or gaping (cup too large) or without bulging out, or pushing the bridge...the part of the bra between the cups...away from your chest (cup too small). If it seems that the straps aren't long enough, it may be because the cups aren't big enough and the straps then have to come down too far in the front to reach up, over the shoulder and down the back.

That is the greatest and funniest idea I ever saw for a relay for life event! I'm from Ohio and didn't even hear about this. Got a real kick out of the bra with "Wayne and His Fox(y)Ladies" aka Fox 8 News Team on mush's site. hahhahaha

Back in Belly dancing days we would buy large sequins and sew them on they looked good I agree start with one of the wild color bras

use fabric stiffener, or paint them with gesso, or latex or acrylic primer. Then paint it.. or use it as a planter! I know the Hospital relay for life team sells daffodils as a fund raiser, so I would plant daffodils. Or use it as a candy holder! LOL I'm trying to think of a snappy name to use with the planter idea.

make it in to fish.... go to good will and get a real biggy! LOL get a couple to play with.

Thank you ladies for all your wonderful ideas and websites. We had no idea how we were going to decorate a bra until we received all of your ideas and photos. The KT always to come thru! :o)
