Exterior house painted in SW Blonde??

What do you think of painting my new house stucco in SW Blonde? I am so nervous about the color being too yellow/gold and sticking out in the neighborhood but I LOVE the color. Has anyone used this color? Please give me your opinions.

I cannot comment on SW Blonde but when I was getting ready to have our exterior painted, I asked the paint guy at SW what the color was on the exterior of the SW Paint store, he told me SW Latte so I went with Latte. I found out that the sunlight filters the color a lot so I could have even gone darker. Another thing, I should have sampled my color on the North side of the house, the color looks totally different. But I do love the Latte on our home. Good luck

I have SW Blonde and love it, but it's in my kitchen.

Wasn't sure if you were looking for opinions from those who have only used it outside.

We're building a new home, and I've been wandering around into all the model homes (ones that range from $600-$900k) I can find in the area for inspiration (color-wise). My favorite so far uses Blonde for the dominant color (the LR and the DR each use the darker colors--Mannered Gold and/or Restrained Gold). At first, I thought the ceiling was the lighter color, Ivoire, but the best I could tell after further examination, it was painted Blonde throughout. The trim, then, was the lightest on the strip, Navajo White. Looks fantastic! What about repainting your ceiling in either the Blonde or Ivoire and then using the Navajo White as the trim?

Yeah, that whole strip of SW color is rather well known at paint counters across America!! lol! Color matching Blonde works out well in most cases. It's not a terribly complicated color to match. Actually, color matches for that strip in other brands often come out more attractive than the original SW brew. SW colorants - for whatever reason - have a tendency to lean a bit green with many of their colors. You don't get that undertone of greenish when mixed in other brands --- usually.

Gray roof is good. I would not go with the black trim. Black paint and even black metal fades or oxidizes and shows spider webs, dust and damage more than lighter colors. Maybe a gray-blue or gray-green trim? To me, cream siding close to the brick color would be good with an interesting trim color, but it would have to be a good match. And maybe paint the stone in front by the trellis the same cream. There is a school of thought that garage doors should recede, so match the siding, but your's are front and center so you may as well make them look interesting. There is the concern of maintenance requirements on exposed wood garage doors, though.

Oh wow! I am sitting in my den/family room that I primed last nite in SW Blonde. I love this color! My kitchen cabs are the color above it on the strip (Ivore) and I am using this strip as the base for the colors in my house. I absolutely lovwe the blonde. I know you are doing exterior but it is a great color. It does have more gold in it than I thought it would so maybe do a sample area and make sure it isn't too strong as an all-over color.

You really need to consider context here. What is around you? Muted colonials? Splashy Victorians? Bright California cottages?

When you go from a small sample to a whole house, the color can get pretty "big" on you! There was a woman (Flatcoat, I think) on the Home Dec board who went through the same thing with blue. I think that Blonde might be very bright, but it depends on how strong the light is were you live. Bright southern light tends to wash out colors. You should get a piece of wallboard and sample the Blonde on the whole 4x8 sheet. Move it around to see it on different sides of the house.

Another thing to consider is the style of the house and how it sits within the landscape. A two-story house is much more "out there" than a ranch that nestles into the landscaping. My last house was a cinder-block ranch in FL that thankfully almost disappeared in the sub-tropical vegetation. We could have gotten away with more color on that house, but I moved before we ever needed to repaint luckily.
