What shade of white trim with SW Blonde, Ivoire

Hi. This is my first post, but I have been lurking here quite often lately.

My living room and foyer were painted SW Blonde and Ivoire 3 years ago. The ceilings were all painted SW Navajo White.

My trim and moldings are still painted primer white because I haven't been able to decide on a nice creamy white that has enough contrast with the Navajo White Ceiling.

Any ideas for a trim color would be greatly appreciated. I have tried SW Dover White and SW Alabaster, and they seem to have a gray cast in my house.

Maybe SW White Hyacinth?

I'd definitely try for the warmer side of white instead of crisp bright white?

Do you like the Navajo White? Using that as the trim color would be a great way to unify every area of your home for seamless flow.

I tried the White Hyacinth on the SW Color Visualizer and I really like it. I am putting it on my sample list.

I think that whole strip is more on the orangey gold side, so perhaps that's why you're feeling ivoire is reading pink. I've seen pictures of Ivoire and know quite a few people on this forum have it in their houses, and pink is never a word I've heard to describe it. That said, maybe it's your lighting? What kind of bulbs are you using in your fixtures? Perhaps a Reveal bulbs will bring a different tint to the room. The Believable Buff/Whole Wheat/Camelback strip has a tad more green in it, so you might like Whole Wheat/Camelback which is in the same tone as Blonde/Restrained Gold.

Just working with the two parameters of Ivoire and wanting a medium shade of brown or a tan... Lots will work with Ivoire! :~D I personally like a little green slant to a "brown" with Ivoire - something like SW Artifact and Relic Bronze. Also from BenM Jamesboro Gold. I'm on a J.B kick these days, dunno why. I think it's feeling very updated and chic to me at the moment. There's also Tamarind AF-120 from the BenM Affinity collection. I'd go a dark chocolate with a cooler, bluer edge to it with Ivoire if we stayed in the browner category. I just have thing about a truer brown, chocolate with golds & yellows. It's an unattractive association for me but it depends on what else is with the combo. My own house for example is a double order of SW baquette with a custom med-dark chocolate trim, but the tiled roof is redish umber, as are the water spouts and the stained patterned drive and sidewalks. So with the addition of the reddish umber, etc. I don't get the same vibe from the yellow and brown combo. YMMV. :-D

Hi pippit, I am a little late in answering your original posting but thought I would chime in anyway. Our entire new home was painted in SW Ivoire. I think it is a good soft yellowy "beige" color, goes with anything. In the rooms with sunlight coming into the room, the color is more yellowy. In the rooms with just light, no direct sunlight, the color goes more beige. I do not think it is dingy or grayish, at all. In fact, I chose it over the color my builder uses all the time. Her color, a custom mix, had a lot of "gray" in it and I did not want a grayish dingy color. I think the SW Ivoire is a very "clean" color. Very safe!! Not dark or dirty looking. Hope this helps you or anyone else looking for colors. PS I was actually wanting a tad more "yellow" but did not have time to custom mix a color and test it out, so I am happy with this. Ginny

We have Blonde with Navajo White ceilings because we have an open floor plan and needed something for the whole house. If you prefer a darker ceiling, I would cut the Blonde by 50 or 75% before I would use Ivoire (which I also have in our home). In our last house, the owner of our paint store (Ben Moore and C2) recommended doing that instead of picking a different color. We always used a 50% formula of whatever color we were using. Some rooms we used the same color on the ceiling.

Hi Lainey,

I have BM Desert Tan and Rich Cream which are the equivalent of SW Blonde and Ivorie. My trim is BM White Dove. It's slightly off pure white and is a great color. I think it's quite popular on this forum.

We're building a new home, and I've been wandering around into all the model homes (ones that range from $600-$900k) I can find in the area for inspiration (color-wise). My favorite so far uses Blonde for the dominant color (the LR and the DR each use the darker colors--Mannered Gold and/or Restrained Gold). At first, I thought the ceiling was the lighter color, Ivoire, but the best I could tell after further examination, it was painted Blonde throughout. The trim, then, was the lightest on the strip, Navajo White. Looks fantastic! What about repainting your ceiling in either the Blonde or Ivoire and then using the Navajo White as the trim?

I have Wilmington tan which is similar to Blonde & used Navajo white as the trim color. Ceilings painted WT also.

Thank you everyone for all of the great suggestions!

I am not against repainting the ceiling..it seems like the Navajo White ceiling was maybe a mistake.

I do have a few gallons of 50% Blonde that I bought a while ago, thinking that I would change the Navajo White ceiling in the Blonde room to the 50% Blonde, but I'm still not sure what I would do about the ceiling in the Ivoire rooms.

Does anyone know if 50% Ivorie ceiling would provide any contrast to Navajo White trim?
