SW Ivoire reading too flesh-toned (pink)

but the look I'm going for is in the Blonde/Restrained Gold category. I haven't sampled those, since Ivoire is appearing pinkish on my walls and those are on the same strip.

Should I go ahead and sample those other shades, or do I need to find something with a different undertone (green maybe) to balance the pinky warmth that is already in the room?

I think that whole strip is more on the orangey gold side, so perhaps that's why you're feeling ivoire is reading pink. I've seen pictures of Ivoire and know quite a few people on this forum have it in their houses, and pink is never a word I've heard to describe it.

That said, maybe it's your lighting? What kind of bulbs are you using in your fixtures? Perhaps a Reveal bulbs will bring a different tint to the room.

The Believable Buff/Whole Wheat/Camelback strip has a tad more green in it, so you might like Whole Wheat/Camelback which is in the same tone as Blonde/Restrained Gold.

I have it in my home & no it isn't pink here. Has more yellow to Ivoirie in my light & home. My album is on Photobucket if you wanna peek.......good luck with your color selection. Page 2 has some of the FR which is Ivorie along with the foyer. Master bathroom is Ivorie also. Blonde is in back hallway & laundry room. Restrained gold is in DR and mannered gold in master bedroom.

I think that we often associate those Caucasian fleshy tones with institutional walls, and as several of you have said, it's all in the context. I, like Annie, am a very white white girl! So here's a off-topic story ... One of my favorite photographs was taken many years ago in Boston, in an AIDS organization where I worked for several years. It was snapped by a Boston Globe photographer who was in our offices for another purpose, and it's a happy, huggy triple head shot of Heriberto, who was honeyed cafe au lait brown, Michael from New Orleans who was deep chocolate, and in the middle, me, looking in contrast rather like a skinny blonde marshmallow. If SW Camelback/Whole wheat is too green, then what?

I have Whole Wheat in all the common areas of my house (we have a very open layout) and it only has a green cast to it in certain light at certain times of day. It is a gorgeous color, but perhaps in your house the lighting is such that it is appearing extra greenish. Before painting the Whole Wheat I had sampled Tobacco Road because I have been told that it is very similar to WW and CB (and there is a big following of that color on this forum)...I did like Tobacco Road but opted to use the Whole Wheat instead, simply because it is so difficult to get the paint stores to mix up Tobacco Road correctly because it is a discontinued Duron color. Being that I have so much wall space, I didn't want to risk using a color that I would not get consistent batches of. I agree with the person above who suggested Blonde. Ivoire is also nice. I have not personally tried those colors, but I have seen them in other people's homes and they are beautiful golden colors. You will find the correct color!

Choosing paint is hard enough but when you don't have any furniture or other accessories, it's REALLY difficult to tell. Everything is going to change when you have other things up against it and since the windows are still covered, the color is going to lighten up quite a bit. Having said that, if hubby absolutely hates it, I'd be hesitating too. What color did he really want? Something more off white? There was a good thread with off white colors recently. What style/color furniture will be in your main living areas?

@Lori A. Sawaya can you share your favorite paint colors used with travertine in your experience? My floors are more "busy" and darker than OP photo's shown. I had an "enhanced" sealer applied so I have way more color on the floor. It is making my head spin trying to choose paint color for open house floorplan that has good windows but house is dark usually because all windows are covered with shaded outdoors. Trying to pick a neutral paint color that will lightened things up somewhat but I don't think my house (with dark brown heavy furniture) will ever read "light and airy" and I guess I am ok with that.

I've seen all the photos of Ivoire, Blonde, Restrained Gold and Mannered Gold which are what drew me to that strip (Bonnie's pics esp.) I have golden oak flooring this would be in a northeast facing room with a red couch, so in daylight there is a pinkish glow on the sample. Philadelphia Cream does the same thing. Are WW and Camelback more brown? I was just looking at Independent Gold. Is that too green?

I love restrained gold but it was too dark for some areas of my house. I tried Ivorie but it was to yellow. I had them mix me some restrained gold at only 25% tint and it is great!! It's about as light as the ivorie but the yellow isn't as strong.

Whole Wheat does have more of a green undertone. Believable Buff is lighter so it doesn't appear to have as much green in it.
