No, don't use a towel..get a coffee filter, easier to handle..and put your seeds in it. Drop the whole thing into a shallow dish like a custard cup and cover with water. Let them soak there until they show some white bits. I pour off the water the next day and pour fresh water over them, but I use the same filter. I've had some in a filter for a week or more, and they are still good to go. But they are no longer in water, just the damp filter. In that case it's like a damp towel. But I'd start them COVERED in water for more than a couple of days. I'm sure you'll have great success as I did, unless the seeds are old. And you will know in a couple of days, I promise you. I just noticed looking at that pot, the new leaves make it look like dragon flies hovering..and I have it with the most beautiful little day lily tuft. Even now they are gorgeous to me! Just get a well draining good potting soil. You can set them out in the ground if you want once they have rooted well, but pots are so much easier to control, imo.

Rosie- at first I thought you meant she created a figure of a person using the altered hymnal as the body. Minnie- to me, altered books are a form of collage or assemblage art. The hymnal istelf becomes a new work of art by the artist adding paint, decoupage, stamps and other items to the pages. She used the topic of each hymn to inspire her when she added images. I think it is lovely! Although I am surprised at how nicely the pages look. Hymnal paper is so thin it can't take much added wet media unless she put something else behind the page as a backing. I just did a collage for an art journal round robin, and used a page from a hymnal as part of the background with watercolor paper as a base. Karen

Yes, that's the one. I liked the non-textured ones as much as the textured, though. And I was wondering if there's not some other way to get that look without globbing up a mallet. I hate to get my hot glue gun out! I've always wanted to make a cigar-box purse and I think the copper would look great on one of those. In fact, I've been thinking of changing the back-splash in my kitchen and using copper or tin somehow... BTW, looking at the website for that project... they mention Memories permanent ink. Is that the kind Walmart sells?

I'm such a newbie here, but I just wanted to add what I happily found just yesterday for my backsplash: I'm getting ceramic tile beadboard!! Just what I wanted. The tile size is 8" X 24". I'm guessing that would go in the category of "large rectangle" right? It just seems sooooo much bigger than 2" x 4". Also, would this be considered a "pattern" or in any way a special feature? The only reason I'm asking is because I had this idea (tile that looked like beadboard) and I tried to search it and I even asked in a couple stores, and all I found was nothing. Then, I got the thought to call it "ceramic beadboard" and ask a specific question about it here, and I was able to find stuff. The next thing I know the tile guy is showing me very reasonably priced ceramic beadboard that he's only seen used in bathrooms, but will make what I think will be a beautiful backsplash in my kitchen!!!! When the time comes when my kitchen is actually done (OK - we haven't even started demo yet, but I DID sign a contract), what would be the best way to enter my information? Is it considered "beadboard" or is it a "large tile?" Will there be an "other" category" and maybe "keyword search" function so you could put in something really specific like the phrase "ceramic beadboard" or something like that? I LOVE LOVE LOVE this site and I am so appreciative to all of the kind and patient people out there who put so much time in! When all is said and done and I am going to write a post that outlines EVERYTHING in my kitchen that actually came from GW (as far as the idea). It's just amazing!!! With extreme gratitude... SQ
