Unusual Drape Rod/Hanging question....
Comments (10)I'm a little foggy on this, perhaps I'm just not visualizing well...Are you asking whether the brackets holding the rod should be placed next to the edge of the window? If this is what you are asking, then, how would you push the drapes to hang 10" past the window frame with the bracket in the way? I must be missing something. On all my windows, and most recently, on this one near the corner of the kitchen, I hung my drapery rod brackets as far out from the edge of the window as I could, to widen the look of the window, and to allow the fabric to 'stack' full while only intruding into the actual window area the slightest amount. For this window, I had to allow a couple of inches for the finial to not bump the adjacent wall at the corner, so I was only able to hang the brackets 6" outside the window, otherwise, the drape rod with finial wouldn't fit. As a result, the drape does cover part of the glass. I don't like that, but I was limited by space. My window is only 35" wide, but it looks about 48" wide because of the draperies. Comments (57)Yes, what you said works! I ordered a set of rods and thinking the packers at the factory must've been smoking something on their break and made the mistake of packing 3 finial end pieces so that the extension wouldn't fit inside the two ends, I exchanged it for the same one. When that set came- the same problem! So then I went to the order page and told them I was returning both. Then ordered a completely different set..on arrival,.same problem! I decided to look on YouTube or pose such a dumb question as to how do I put a 3 -piece rod set together?? Your thread appeared. Wow! Thank you so much. Now I just need to figure out which set I want to keep....See MoreQuestion re: Hanging Curtains
Comments (17)Think draperies hung to the ceiling draw the eye to the "void" of blank wall between the top of the window frame and the rod. How exciting is this? I would hang to the ceiling only if I had a valence which covered the top of the window frame, or had some type of "fill". Have to adapt to what your sit is, too. Have an old house with very high ceilings and steam rads under the windows. The top part of the frames are deep with decorative molding on top. Don't want to hide the details so hang the rod under the top frames, to the floor, and to either side of the rad. I use mini slat blinds for covering the windows panes for privacy....See Morecurtain hanging
Comments (12)Have you considered a different rod and/or curtain ... and adding a full width valance, too. My mom's curtains/drapes had metal hooks that fit behind a stiff pleated top and gained a good three inches above the rod height. Curtains/drapes with rod pockets can have those rod pockets lower than the top of the curtains/drapes and any amount of fabric above that rod raises your curtains/drapes -- provided the fabric stands up ... something which may require some stiffening material. https://www.cheerycurtains.com/heading-types...See More4boys2
