Presidents Day, brings back fond memories of the days when we use to raise rabbits for show. We use to travel down to Roseburg in southern Oregon to a fairly large show they held around President's birthday. DH won BIS with a Belgian Hare and I won BOB with a Netherland Dwarf. It seem that's the only traveling I ever got to do. Oh well, it got me to Houston, Tucson, and we spent a lot of weekends in Seattle and surrounding areas. Anyone else ever raise rabbits for show? I'll never forget the scrumptious meals we had on these fondly remembered weekends, Prime Rib at the Fireside Inn and Jake O'Shaunessy's, Abalone can't remember where but it was to die for, King Crab Legs at Ray's Boathouse and the Tiger Prawns at Andy's dinner, oh-la-la. Okay..Luvs...You asked for it...I'll share my 'Embarrassing Moment'..cause I could use a laugh myself! We had just arrived in Durango, there were 9 of us traveling cross country doing 500 miles a day. Dh/Me...My BIL/SIL.. and 5 teenagers - 2 cars. We stopped at a gas station to refuel. I jumped out of the car cause I had to go to the B/R REAL BAD (I have weak kidneys)...It was one of these tiny gas stations. When I walked in..there was about half a dozen local men..sitting around, just 'chewing the fat' and watching anyone who came in, as it was their entertainment for the day!! Well, I rushed in asked where the bathroom was..they pointed to the door right where they were sitting. I ran in, pulled down my shorts and started to 'tinkle'...well after a few moments, I realized I hadn't heard anything going into the bowl. The toilet was very low...and that's when I noticed it went all in my shorts!! I was soaked. I panicked..opened the door a crack..to see all these men staring at me..I asked if one of them, would call one of the ladies by the car for me. Well everyone came in, wanting to know what happened to me. I whispered to my SIL, that I needed a new pair of shorts. Everything was packed away tight with the camping gear..and they couldn't take anything out.. After much (to me) unnecessary discussion, and fuss over not finding any change of clothes...They finially decided to give me DH's Denim shirt to wrap around my bottom half. Of course, with the audience of these men sitting there taking everything in. So when I finially stepped out wearing DH's Shirt wrapped around me..looking to get out of there real fast, they started to clap and one said 'Mission Accomplished'!! Everyone started to laugh..I know my face was beet red. So, when I think of Durango...it brings 'Warm & Fuzzy' thoughts..lol jane

Luvs, The metal can is an antique (or more likely,vintage) tin pudding mold for steamed plum puddings. I'm too lazy to take pictures but you get a close look when you click below. Make sure you scroll down to see the bottom of the tin - which turns out to be the top of the pudding when it's turned upside down to unmold. It belonged to my mother and I think she got it in a second-hand, Goodwill type store. I don't ever remember it "looking like new." Closer look. I forgot to mention that the sterling napkin rings are from my mother's collection. All 14 are different. I find reasons to use them all the time.

Jan, the napkins are a wonderful quality. They are quite large and great fabric with a lot of body to it. Luvs, that is the third table in a row, I've used that red tablecloth. Chinese New Year, valentine's Day, and now this one. Jeanne, I found an entire card of that red fringe and it was only a couple of dollars. This is the second project that I have found a way to use it. Almost everybody who made that plate at the same time I made mine, painted theirs silver and antiqued it to look like pewter, but I decided to paint mine and glaze it and I am very glad I did. 1976 was the year my youngest DD was born, so the year has special meaning to me. OA, I think that piece of fabric was originally meant to be pillow panels, but I was planning this table when I saw it and this is the purpose for which I decided to use it. Plus, I knew I had the fringe to edge it! I knew when I saw the tankards, they would work for a lot of tables. They were also Sal. Army. Punk, I know I will be able to use those plates for lots of different themes. Maybe a Van Gogh "Starry Night?" LOL Pat, I think the tablecover really pulled everything together. It has such a patriotic feel with the eagle emblems and the star borders. Nana, thanks, I think it made a nice tribute to their memory. Jane, I not only check the dish aisle at the TS's, but the linen aisle as well. When I see a good buy, I get it and then when I plan a new table, I just look to see what is in the boxes. I have the napkins folded and in shoe boxes by color. A red box, blue box, et cetera. And....all of this just since last spring! DH isn't so sure I should have found this forum!! He thinks all of this is accumulating "stuff" I don't need. Silly man. : ) Janet, I truly have become a TS addict. I do have to start being more selective now that my dish collection has grown so much. I just found a new GoodWill that opened fairly nearby, and "had" to go check it out. I found the dinner plates that matched the yellow border snowman salad plates that I used on the Groundhog table. And they were a half price color sticker!! Yippee, couldn't get them in the cart fast enough. LOL Glad you all enjoyed it. TTFN, Candy
