What do you mean by a "mess"? If you tangled your tiller blades with grass roots that's to be expected -- especially with bluegrass. Just stop periodically and use a good razor knife on the tangle. If the tilled ground is full of dying grass its time to rake it out. If the tilled ground is growing new grass like crazy -- that's a common phenomenon. Fluffing the soil has a beneficial effect on grass. I've always said that if I cared enough about grass to worry about how well my lawn grew I'd till it up and plant vegetables and I'd soon have the best grass in the neighborhood. LOL Grubbing grass out of the former lawn to create a garden is a good deal of work. Tilling is only the first step. Well, actually, either stripping or smothering it under a tillable mulch such as fall leaves for a year is the ideal first step, but that doesn't help you when you want to grow some food this year. For the ongoing chore of uprooting and removing grass from the garden, I like to either sit there on the dirt with a 3-prong cultivator or use the long-handled, 5-prong cultivator. I think the pronged tools are better for grass than a hoe because they uproot it rather than just chop it off. As the tilling reveals, chopping grass up just makes it grow faster. Sometimes, when I'm grubbing grass, I think on the pioneers plowing the prairie to turn it into the breadbasket of the world that it is today. And I'm glad I'm not trying to de-grass anything bigger than a modest plot of vegetables.

Oh, I am so sorry, you have my sympathy. It must have been the week for water damage. After a summer of 100 plus degree temps and no rain, Monday night a wind storm took off the roof of our office building, and then the rain came. Tuesday on my way to a dr appt I get a call that the office has been flooded. This is our second floor in a month, mind you. The property restoration people showed up not long after I got there, with their fans and dehumidifers. It looked like a mess, but that we would survive. It rained Tuesday night. Office flooded again. More carpet sucking, then carpet removal, more dehumidifiers and fans, Thursday it rained again, TWICE. By now it was way past funny and on the threshold of disaster. Fortunately the computers and files were fine, just everything else was soggy and/or destroyed. Clients of ours gave us some temp space until they can rehab our entire office. It rained again last night, I ran up to check today. They had supposedly temporarily fixed the leak, but I didn't trust it, but lo and behold, the floor was dry and a massive blower with super hot air was blowing through the office. Monday we have to tackle inventorying what was destroyed and trying to decide how to store what didn't die.

That's good it's growing back but more importantly it's great you're doing much better. :) *I have no idea what vitamins they have on that site or how they are. Beverly -- no hurry. But I really think they would have to be super tiny to work. It's hard to imagine someone making them small enough for this -- my guess is that beads will be a better size -- BUT YOU NEVER KNOW. I will be excited to see what you find. And if not, I know I can find the perfect beads to fashion some. AND, yes, I know I have a mental illness of some sort, but, well... I have an announcement: I am starting over on the stocking. I know, I know. But I keep looking at it and thinking I wish the whole foot was blue and the top of the waves were just above where the BOTTOM of the blue is. That would give me so much more room for the stocking to fold down over the palms. You can't tell in the picture, but when I appliqued on the palm trunks it "pulled" the stocking in and the fabric is bunched behind the sun to hide it -- which was very preventable because even though I turned under the edges of the trunks they have fusible on back and I didn't think to, like, hello, fuse them in place before stitching them down, so I'd love to redo that part. I also would change a couple other things just slightly but mostly I want to move the whole thing down and now that I know what goes where it's not going to take long to re-do. WELL, the hammock was a bit of a chore but I can do it while watching TV anyhow. I told DH that if I had enough fabric I wanted to start over and he got a look on his face where I knew he kind of wanted that foot all blue too. (Never mind HE is the reason it is NOT!!!!) But sometimes you just have to live with something awhile to know you don't want to live with it forever!!!! I have already cut out the red and blue for the new front.
