novel use for an ice cube tray
Comments (7)Great set-up, Kristi! And a wonderful use for a product that almost has no use any longer, due to the ice dispensers on newer refrigerators! Looking good! I've tried the flotation method in water for seed starting, and I prefer to simply plant them directly into soil, though both methods work equally well. I make little slits in the soil and plop in a seed on its side... I'd say they get covered with a 1/4 inch of soil, or less. In other words, I barely cover them, but I make sure there's good soil to seed contact. For me, the trick is bottom heating with a pad made for the purpose of seed starting and cutting rooting. My flats of seeds are on a heat pad and under lights. Last spring, I started a flat of Hippeastrum seeds outdoors, and I placed in on the concrete pad in front of the garage. The flat got morning sun, and I had great germination and growth... by autumn, I was able to transplant the little seedlings into larger pots and bring them indoors. Thanks for sharing those photos, Kristi! Very helpful!...See MoreA Bright Idea

Comments (24)How irritating. I can relate. The ice cube thing is an exact scenario of what happens at my workplace. Also, my drinks and snacks dissappear, even after I write my name on them. The department that I work in has 5 people total. There is one person who is notorious for such behavior, and has no qualms about taking other peoples stuff. He used to drink my bosses drinks out of the fridge. She is a saint. She told him that if he were going to do that, please put some from the case she keeps there into the fridge so she will have some cold ones to drink. He won't even do that. I once put post it's on my drinks with a note that read "these are mine,do not drink" The next time I came in,I found the post it's in the trash and my drinks gone. What sent me over the edge though, was a person came in,and thanked me for the root beer. Apparently, not only was this jerkwad drinking my drinks,he was passing them out to others. The next day I bought some diet sunkist, which he loves to steal the most. I bought the 8 pack of small bottles, opened one of them, poured half of it out,and topped it off with vinegar and orange food coloring. Then I put it in the fridge so it would get nice and cold. He was soooooo mad! But who was he going to complain to? They were clearly labeled with my name, and I'm certainly allowed to tamper with my own drinks. I'm any case, while hilarious and satisfying momentarily,it did nothing to determine him furthur. He still steals food and drink from everyone. He still leaves dirty dishes for weeks until he realizes that no one else is going to wash them for him,and he still uses the ice and doesn't refill the trays....See MoreSub-zero - Plastic in ice cubes - PLEASE WATCH OUT
Comments (14)Guys, Thank you for your feedback and insights Here is my thought: If I buy a car I know I have to change the oil after a certain period of time and if I don't change the oil I put myself and/or my family at risk - I understand and accept this What is different here is there is no expectation that a product failure of an icemaker will poison your child when it stops working. Specifically there is no expectation that if you don't replace your icemaker every 4.5 years you and your family will consume plastic. The only expectation of an icemaker failure is that it stops working. If there was this expectation that product failure would poison you everyone would replace their icemaker every few years (no one wants to eat plastic) My goal here is to make other consumers aware of this risk so their families don't have the same outcome we did....See Moredcarch7 d c f l a s h 7 @ y a h o o . c o m
