I have a little jacket my sister made back in the early 40's it is covered in black sequins. I love it could never fit into it. My sister was so clever with her sewing and my other sister and I loved it when she would get rid of "last year's" outfits.

Probably a 3/4 length coat with a fur collar...Christmas gift from HD in 1970. He loved it.& so did his mother...I tolerated it and still don't have the heart to give it away...it's almost the same story with a handbag he picked out the next year...let's just say, our taste are quite different and now when he's planning to buy clothing, I just say something like...gee, your so busy and don't really have the time to shop...how bout I pick it out and you pick it up or get a card with the cash enclosed instead. He tends to spend too much for things and then I really feel bad if I don't like it!

A red and white checked apron a neighbor made for me when I was 10.

A knee-length one-piece undergarment, dripping with tatted lace, from the turn of the century. It has rows of pintucking and a mother-of-pearl button on the waistband. The bodice has more pintucking, tatted lace, and tiny pearl buttons up the front. It's so sweet. If was tiny enough I'd wear it as a summer "dress."

An ankle lenght tie-on apron, also embellished with rows of pintucking and heavy pillow lace.

A couple of floor length, long-sleeved, covered-with-lace neglegees and several lacey teddies from the 70s and 80s that I can't bear to part with.

Just last week I did get rid of some horrible beaded and spangled dico-type dresses. Thanks heavens! What was I thinking by keeping them...and even worse...wearing them! LOL

An exquisite pale yellow handmade silk Harlow style night gown, all bias & cut to the waist in back where there is a cluster of beautiful handmade satin flowers -a part of my Mother's 1929 wedding trousseau.
Now that I'm down to 103 it would fit me.

My baptism gown, from 1962. My daughter wore it when she was baptised in 1996. Now it's falling apart! I'm not one to get very sentimental over old clothing. I get rid of it when I no longer love it or when it's no longer in fashion (or when it no longer fits me!!!).

Being that on Thanksgiving night 1993, DH looked at me and said "If you love me, you'll marry me tomorrow." and Father-in-law is a pastor, I had less than 24 hours to get ready. I wore jeans and a shirt to get married. I saved the shirt, though its not hanging in my closet, I have it put away in a box of special things that I have saved over the years.

P.S. We were married the next day, in his living room, at 5:00. :)

It would be easier for me to tell you what's *new* in my wardrobe than try to remember what pre-dates what.

My oldest, and dearest to me, piece of clothing is from my mom. It's a wool cardigan sweater from Norway, crafted in the 1940's. My mother had a friend who traveled home to Norway quite frequently. When she visited Norway one time, she brought the sweater back as a gift for my mom. It's a mix of black, off-white, smoky blue, gold and red. I finally figured out that those colors follow me in my choice of wardrobe colors and my choice of home colors (a little subconscious working there). I "inherited" it in the 1970's, after mom said it looked better on me LOL, and have been wearing it ever since. It wears like iron and looks like new. Heaven forbid there was a catastrophe...it's the one piece of clothing I would rescue.

Because of a house fire the oldest thing I have is a long winter's coat from 1994. I've only worn it once.

They are not in my house, but my sisters and I have my mom's baby clothes from 1917. She was a preemie (about 2 1/2 pounds) and it was a wonder she survived back in those days. My grandparents dressed her in a tiny doll dress and there are little diapers not as large as a handkerchief. They carried her on a pillow because her skin was so fragile that they were afraid they would pull it right off of her. I have photos of the clothing somewhere...

A green and white striped CLOWN SUIT, made by my mom for me when I was in first grade, I'm now 65. The kids wore it for Halloween now and then, and I can't get rid of it.

Oh Caroline...that is funny! I remember mine well. It was a light blue and white striped top with solid light blue shorts. We need pictures of all these vintage clothes.

My oldest item would be a t-shirt that my boys put their hand prints in paint on. That would be from about 1990. LOL

Probably my wedding dress from 1981.

I have my maroon velvet cap and one shoe from my babyhood. I also have baby clothing from each of my children, and army jacket from WWII that DH wore.

We still have my daddy's christening gown. 2 granddaughters wore it when they were christened. He was born in 1913.

I have a white vest I bought in 1979 and I still wear it. Goes great with turtlenecks.

I have a old army jacket which I bought in the 70's from a second hand store. My DD took it from me, so it's hanging in her closet now.

I have an early 1970's or late '60's shirt that I got for my daughter, but too small for her. I saved it to put in my friend's shop when it opens because she is going to have some vintage clothing. Other than that...I don't keep clothes, or know how old they are, because almost all of mine are used and nothing fancy. I wear them out and they become possum beds.

I have the dress I wore to Son's wedding...It was a skirt and top and so pretty...I couldn't possibly squeeze my fat butt into it these days.

I am actually wearing a navy blue sweater that my daughter bought when she was in middle school. She's 30 now.

I have the Chinese silk nightgown my grandma wore on her wedding night. It is really pretty

The red Madras plaid shirt I wore on my first date with DH from 1977. I have it stored in a plastic bag. When I held it up to my chest lately, I couldn't believe how tiny I was back then. Almost forgot, I also have one of the sweaters my Mom knitted when I was back in high school in the late 1960's.

I have my Mother's wedding dress from 1919, and a couple of baby dresses that have been handed down and probably was from the 20s.

Kaseys baby blanket my gramma made before she passed....somehow it made it thru the fire just scorched.....so it is in the closet....Stacy

For something I actually wore it would be a pink pleated skating skirt from around 1961.

The oldest items would be several several pairs? sets? of bloomers complete with tatting and monograms that belonged to my paternal grandmother. A couple have just a buttoned waist and the others have buttons with a higher waist and straps.

I have a baby outfit that belonged to my now deceased brother. It dates back to 1949.

I have muslin underskirts that belonged to my grandmother that date back to the early 1900's.

But as far as one of my pieces of clothing, then it has to be a coat with a fox collar my DH gave me back in the early 60's.
