All thisa talk of aaa meataballs...andd aaa guess whooo I aa meet?

...and they didn't even win best meatball! I told Mama hers best and Rocco say it the blender, right? ...and then Mama sayy...nooo it the luv ... u got to put the luv in...

So now we know what makes the best meatball. Love

Thanks! Ally, the top is now done and to be quilted soon! And yes the checkerboard goes ALL around it. And it's HUGE! I originally was going to use something other than pink but decided to stick with the pattern colors and I like it too. I'm making one for me to keep and have a different "pink" that I like even better. The pattern is from Pam Bono's "Quick Rotary Cutter Quilts (For the Love of Quilting)." You will all be proud to know that I am NOT going to point out the "flaws" to the recipient! (It's for my family reunion art raffle). I only tell you guys because I feel we are "collaborating" on things and learning from each other. BUT, with help from this forum and my DH's eye-rolling, I'm getting much better at not pointing discrepancies out to friends/family when I give/show them quilts. Especially if it's a gift -- once you point a flaw out it may bug them and they might otherwise never have noticed! Here is a link that might be useful: The book on Amazon - used about $8 with S&H

LOL, dcarch, she's doing pretty well for her first meatballs. She thought they were a bit too big, so she was trying to scoop less meat. The tiny one for her sister was about half a scoop. And she wouldn't eat any of the "green stuff", but she ate several meatballs and pronounced them "delicious". Cathy, you know I love having the kids in the kitchen. Cooking is something I enjoy, so I like sharing that with the grandkids. Other family members are better at things like fishing or playing ball, so they can do that. This is what I can teach them, and the results are edible, so double bonus. (grin) Lizbeth, I hope when they are teenagers or adults, they'll smile when they remember Grandma's kitchen and all the yummy things we made there. I bake my meatballs too - less fussy, less messy & I can do them all @ once; they bake in 25 minutes (I make smaller ones as well - about 2 1/2 bites). I have a 'recipe' of my own devising that I cribbed from epicurious.com (tho I cannot find the inspiration one I used on their website now). It is a combination of my style bulk Italian sausage seasonings (fresh marjoram, garlic, S&P, paprika, red pepper/cayenne) plus egg, nutmeg, parsley, onion & fine dry breadcrumbs (I use seasoned stuffing mix, ground up in the blender). I don't have it typed up, tho, just handwritten on a stained & worn scrap of paper... The technique is so easy: roll balls in breadcrumbs, place on shallow pan, drizzle w/ a little olive & bake @ 350F for 25 minutes, then simmer 20 minutes in sauce before serving. Hubby & I eat them w/o sauce, mostly, tho. Since I got 1 of those springloaded cookie scoops, making meatballs is a breeze! P.S. I've been to Buca Di Beppo & their meatballs are ginormous like that.

Yes, Rocco's balls were hot and tasty. Tyler had no balls in the competition....but his rump roast was juicy.

Ok, the meatballs were unreal. Everything from porterhouse, lamb, duck, tuna...but seriously, Mama's were the best!

Maggie, when's the next food and wine show? LOL Actually, I WILL be coming to New Yawk. Carol has promised me a guided tour complete with gelato and bagels.

Maybe next year, when I'm done paying for Ashley's tuition?

Oddly, Giada also had balls...I do have a pic with her but bad enough I put a double chin pic with Tyler...no way I post my giant Irish head with Giada's teeth and boob package.

Ok, and I'll just say everyone was so nice .... except those top chef judges!!! ...omg Gail and Jeffrey...just sayin...is just a meataball not the nobel peace prize:)))

How'd you get so close...what tickets did you get?? I looked for tickets but everyone was at a different venue...hmmm...just curious what you went to...tickets were pricey for a few of them.
