Teresa, it's excellent that you can extend your selling season and I love the idea of taking orders. HOWEVER, based on your last comment, are you making enough money to justify your time? If not, I'd recalculate the time you devote to baking, selling and purchasing the components and see if it is really worth it. If you like the social networking aspect, use that as a positive element in your calculations.
Then again, you never know where this path will lead you!

I hear you, E....and I keep mulling this over in my head. I'm probably not making enough money to justify my time. But then, if I greatly increased the price of my bread, I might not sell any at all. Purchasing the needed ingredients does not take a lot of my time, especially if my friend can pick up the flour for me. By staying with just breads and rolls, I don't have to buy a lot of the expensive ingredients used in other types of baking - chocolate, nuts, dried fruits, cheese, cream, etc.

The baking does take time - so I try to divide it up between 3 nights after work, Wed., Thurs., and Fri. The selling time is only 3-4 hours or less on Saturday morning, then I'm done.

What I see is that I'm adding some more money to my monthly budget. And it is all relative, what might be considered a good chunk of change to me might seem like a pittance to someone else.

Teresa it's good to see that you're still able to keep on selling through and after November. I think it's a good idea as well to print out info sheets for orders.

Ugh, nasty weather! Glad you did well in spite of it. I've always brought home at least a few things that didn't sell. It's okay because it is less I need to bake for us during the week. Everything freezes, lol. I wish you much success with orders the next few months. Fingers crossed!

Glad to hear that you can add to the family budget a little bit. I am hoping to find a few craft shows to sell my crafts and goodies at this fall. I am just using up materials and ingredients at home and will figure that most of the materials came from goodwill or garage sales so will be profit. I won't figure in my time, because half the reason I am doing it is to keep busy and occupy my mind, and then get out and about to sell the crafts.

One thing you might consider... Thanksgiving and Christmas are coming. Maybe extend it by taking "pre"orders and then ending for the year. Just a thought. I know I like to supplement this time of year with others much better skill at special items like yours.
