Looking for bathroom inspiration

I am starting to plan a master bath renovation and am looking for some websites with great picture galleries. The bathroom board here is great and I'm sure I'll look to it for tips and product advice, but it isn't giving me a lot of pictures.

Also a question on trends: I love the look of these beautiful new tumbled marble or travertine bathrooms. I wonder if these are starting to be passe and what the new trends are. What materials do you consider timeless....?

If you go to the bathroom site here and click on gallery (just above the first post) where it says "On topic Discussions switch to Gallery" - you will see lots of pics there. When I was planning, I found some of the best pics by googling different things like "tile shower" or "limestone counters" and then went into the results far enough to find lots and lots of tile contractors who post their work on their websites. There were so many great photos that I never would see elsewhere. Of course, Houzz is great, too.

I've been researching powder room renovation ideas. I googled vessel sink, then hit images....comes up with pages...some of the trends I noticed. Vanities that hang with lights under them...

I realize that monochromatic bathrooms are popular these days, but I personally prefer the more colorful ones. This bathroom has been ripped down to the studs and it was interesting to see the more colorful elements from the past. The top layer - from the 1980s I guess - was the blandest. The room is pretty small, and will have lots of white, including a radiator. Golddust - I'm using Armstrong's Linorette, not sure of the color, but am leaning towards this blue: What color are you using? I may ask over at the Home Dec forum Does anyone have a source for colorful 4x4 aceent tile?

Isn't it a sweet curtain? My 12 year old son gave me some grief about it, but then again, he gives me grief about a lot of things ;) I don't have any idea about a window treatment, and might skip one...right now we have a white blind on the window, which is more than enough for privacy, plus the window faces the woods.

The amount of light. The kind of light. The number of different "kinds" of light, all told, all together. Where the light gets projected. Whether the light is dimmable. ALL these questions are so important that they make the difference between a prize winner and an also-ran (at the back of the pack!). The other questions you asked dealt with surfaces and furniture. In a tiny space you gain little by changing the shape of the furniture. In any space that relies on electricity to light the space (no natural light from the sun or from an alleyway), you must think about the theatrical effect of lighting. To keep it simple: get something that uses high - CRI tube fluorescents, something else that is LED's, and something else that "bulbs". Three different kinds of light. Shine them near the wall not from the middle of the space and not into the middle. Consult more before acting on this. go to the lighting forum, read a bit, and then post about your goal: Something like this: "design light plan for manmade light in narrow bathroom" Here is a link that might be useful: lighting forum

Very nice change! Thanks for doing the side-by-side photos of the old and the new. I love the new look. All of your choices are charming. How are you liking the vessel sink? Do you find that you keep your splashes well contained? Our remodel will give us a vessel sink, too. I am feeling apprehensive!

My absolute dream bathroom would have a clawfoot bathtub - I know I'm probably the exception here, but they've never gone "out of style" and I just have to have one at least once in my lifetime! :)

In regards to your question about tile, I personally feel natural stone is a timeless look and will never in itself be passe. That said since Travertine is such a versatile and affordable stone with a neutral palette, it's become one of the most popular stone tiles to use; to the point that much like granite, everyone has it. If it's what you want to use though, I wouldn't let that steer you away from it. I would just keep an open mind to other options, Limestone or Quartzite to name a couple. Both are quite pretty and work well in bathroom environments as well.

In general, I agree that natural stone is timeless. I also personally feel that white tile in almost any shape or size is timeless in a bathroom.
