CC over MDF
Comments (6)Naked wood...! (((gasp))) Sounds kind of "naughty" ;) !! (oops...maybe I meant "knotty"...) We're a C2 dealer (only one from Chicago to Denver!) and, yes, the C2 SAP is a good choice IF you're near a store. It IS "nicely low" on the VOC-scale of things. (Like the NHL, we might be considered in the C2 "Norris" division...kinda meaning "up North" like the Minnesota Wilds' division) * Regardless of primer choice, I'd wait a day b4 sanding. Many primers aren't really hardened-off enough to nicely sand the same day of application. * Buy a top-quality primer! Cheapo's don't have enough dried thickness to sand. Solids content is often very low. Faron...See MoreLow VOC Primer for Farrow & Ball
Comments (4)We have CC at our store too. * CC might be a little "harder" when fully cured, since it has urethane resins, along with top-notch Latex resins. * However, C2's S/Gloss is pretty hard too. * Because you have a rare choice here, I'd give a slight nod to CC for trims. (It's like choosing between a Lexus & a M-Benz...can't really go wrong!) * However...CC's Tint-base can handle lighter/medium colors only. DON'T use C2 formula's in CC though! Use conventional color formulas. * With C2, the formulas will provide a KNOWN color-result. * In CC, conventional-tinting (meaning non-C2) formula's turn out "very close". I have no direct experience with F & B. IMO, C2 probably accomplishes the same goals for less money...but again, IMO. I DO know that F & B has a neat appearance though! I stop short of calling anything a rip-off. I usually phrase things like..."There's a number of premium brands out there. We have 3 of them!" Let us G-Webber's know your progress! Faron PS...DO NOT skip your priming!! Your F & B paint will look closer to Menards Lucite ($10/gal. "paint") if you don't prime!!...See Morezero voc, low voc, regular paint...help????
Comments (20)OP here...to keep you all updated: we have decided to go with BM Natura paint which is zero VOC and odorless. Using eggshell finish on walls and flat on ceiling. Ceiling color will match Kelly Moore Swiss Coffee since that is what is on the rest of house's ceilings. Two walls will be BM Ladyfinger and the central wall will be BM Mascarpone...color names seem appropriate given its the kitchen:) Paint goes on tomorrow (Sunday) so I will let you all know how things go and what we think of the BM Natura paint. Stay tuned for photos!...See MoreRecommendations for No VOC Primer
Comments (2)Yes, looking at SW Harmony primer as well, though it's a bit more expensive than BM Natura. Not seeing a lot of reviews online about that one either....See Moreamysrq
