I would bring it back to the store and make them adjust it. And if they can't make it match, get a new batch at their expense!

Home Depot did this for me recently. They couldn't match the color I was trying to color match. So we had asked for it to be made into another distinct color that had more pigment than the original, so it should have mixed up fine. The paint girl didn't feel like doing the math for the fractions of ounces of color, so she 'estimated' in her little head, and it was WAY too blue. I got the color formulas only to find out she had 'estimated' nearly an extra half ounce of blue into the formula! That is a lot for a gallon of paint.

So they took it back at their cost, and I got a different color entirely, and I was very pleased with it.

Also - as they were adjusting my paint, I got a very patient guy who did very small adjustments at a time. I would highly recommend you ask for small adjustments and expect to be there maybe an hour or so to get it just right. Then we color tested it on a paint stick. Make sure they use the blow dryer on it to dry it because that will show the true color. Paint seems brighter when it is wet, so you definitely want to decide if it is right based on the dry color.

Again - good luck and don't be afraid to ask them to take it back if they can't adjust it properly.

It may be obvious to you that it's off, but if you're not totally sure, it could be that the paint has not had a chance to dry out thoroughly. It can take approx. three days for a color to dry out to its final color - expecially a red/pink.

looking at small paint chips and very small painted samples can be confusing because we can't see the big picture.

It does take time in order for the paint to completely dry through its normal process.

With the color you have, I am sure it probably contains a lot of the TD(white-pastel base) and may need to be knocked back a little with touches of gray to dull it down.

Also depends on the tints used- orange can also work but just depends on the amounts used and specific tints.

oh and diana3, I am not sure what your version of a dull dusty rose might be compared to what I might think it looks like. Nevertheless, I think a dusty mauvey rose is a very nice color.

Thanks for all the help. It does look a little better now that it is dry but still isn't the color I want. I will try to take it back and have them add a little grey at a time. The color he painted on the top of the can matched the chip but looks real different on the wall. I spent sooo much time picking out a color I hate to not be able to use it.
