Thanks so much for the welcome! Primarily, I am looking for paint colors, however am also open to suggestions on the exterior. In the area where the entrance is, there is a small 5 x 7 area that currently houses a garden angel, a layer of garden pebbles, few rocks and a few plants. (hard to see in the picture) I do plan to work on this area during the spring. I'm also not in love with the bushes that are planted along the front of the house, but they may have to stay for a while.

Marcia, no help on colors but don't let anyone prune your crape myrtle again that is by the front walk. Do a search for prunning crape myrtles and you will probably find what has been done to yours in the past is considered crape murder.

no help here ... but igottatellya i am very impressed how *green* everything looks ... we live in northern suburbs of chicago ... & never having been to texas, i always picture it as hot & dry! ... duh!

Hello Phyl345! West Texas is pretty hot and dry, however, I live in a suburb north of Houston, where we get lots and lots of rain. We have heat and lots and lots of humidity. It took a very long time to get used to this weather as I am originally from upstate New York.

Yes, Phyl345, we hear that a lot in Texas. West Texas is dryer but the further east you go the greener it is. I am in the Dallas area. We average about 34 inches of rain so it is anything but a desert.

If you go about 100 miles east of Dallas it gets even greener with huge trees. Like Marcia said, Houston is very green and wet.

When I moved to the San Antonio area years ago, I called my bank back East to have my address changed. I used the address of the little town I was in--Live Oak.

There was a bit of silence on the other end of the phone, and a very confused East Coaster: "They've got TREES in Texas?"

Welcome, Marcia from another Texan. I don't have any advice for you since I am not familiar with those paint colors. I just wanted to add that the reward for our brutal summers is days like today - almost 80 degrees and gorgeous here in Austin. Good luck with the painting, your home looks very nice.

Robin, isn't it funny about the misconceptions people in general have about other areas of the country/world? I grew up on the Canadian border, and when I moved to Texas many people envisioned that I came from a place that had snow 265 days a year! LOL!

I could try to give it a shot... mind you, the paint results are variable and may look different to you than they do to me. I can match, on my screen any SW paint there is, BUT it's almost never the paint by name.

I did a few colors, but I'm still trying to match the ones you've asked for and I have to tinker with your door and the trim on the main part of the house - it keeps coming out darker than I want it.

OK, back to the SW colors.

These aren't "touched up", so ignore blotchiness... I'll be back with more shortly.

Chicory...great job as usual! I like the second brown one so far, but will wait to see what else you got up your pretty decorative sleeve! ;c)

Here it is with darker brown and cream trim.

The garage is coming out OK, but the rest of the house is just turning gray. I'll fix that and do some more, but for now, just look at the garage. : )

Have you thought of doing a third color for the door, Marcia? Something to stand out...like a rich red, leaning toward brown? I would suggest something even bolder, but I have a hunch you are trying to stay neutral. Do you have to have your colors approved by the 'hood? (Bet not...given the PO's choices!)

Hi Amy: I was actually thinking of a deep red for the door. (not a blue red -- maybe something like a dark brick red)

And believe it or not, the paint colors DO have to be approved by the HOA Nazis. :-O Something tells me that either the paint chips they submitted were not what they put on the house, or they never bothered getting approval at all -- or maybe they paid someone on the HOA off?? ;-).

Good...I am glad to hear you are considering red. And yes, stay away from the blue reds. You have such a nice opportunity to add some color there...

I have never lived long-term or full-time with deed restrictions. That yellow/gold scheme does make ya wonder about who knew what and when...
