Window Treatments with Plantation Shutters?
Comments (25)Here are mine. I origionally had blinds with drapes until I added the shutters. Then I took off the panels. I left the panels on in the diningroom, the room just looks better with the panels. I just realized the dining room pic has no shutters, but you can get an idea with the other pics since the blinds resemble the shutters I actually had put in. I really think it is up to you. Right now my entire house has shutters. I ran a rod with sheers on it in my dd's room to add color to her room and when the slats are open it difusses the light a little....See MorePlantation Shutters and Windows w/Outside Grilles
Comments (7)Ours are 3" blinds, split down the middle vertically. The louvers in each quadrant of the shade work independently, though. For example, we can close the bottom of both panels and leave the top blinds open. So we have a lot of flexibility on how we use the shutters. This works especially well in the bathroom, where I keep the top 1/3 of the blinds open and the bottom 2/3 stay shut. I have to say, though, that we rarely open any of the panels vertically--only when we dust the windows....See MorePlantation shutters without window treatments
Comments (17)When I bought a new home 3 years ago, I knew I wanted plantation shutters but worried about color and composition. I had a local vendor come to my home and he showed me actual shutters in place and that was so helpful. My walls are a creamy off-white and the shutters match beautifully. I got the poly design without handles. I love them!!! I keep all the lower ones closed the the upper ones open and angled up. My house is filled with light and looks classy because it matches throughout. Mine are inside mounted and I feel no need for drapes. I feel the shutters blend in so well they don't serve as decor, I am able to use accents in the rooms for decor. The shutters are easy to clean and really do a great job of insulating the house....See MoreDouble Hung Windows with Plantation Shutters?
Comments (4)Typically, you can raise and lower the sashes, you just can't tilt them in for cleaning. There are shutters that are mounted on the wall, rather than inside the jamb that can swing clear, allowing the sashes to tilt in. If you haven't purchased the shutters yet, you just need to let the shutter company know that you want them to build the shutters to accommodate use of your double hung windows....See Morecallaloo
