I HATE filling out forms

I despise filling out forms. Nick's kindergarten registration papers came and I feel the sudden desire to homeschool!

They asked for our address three times (and that doesn't include where it asks for mother's and father's addresses which is the same in our case).

They want the SSN of every person who lives in the house.

The paperwork gives two different dates that it needs to be returned by, says to return it the elementary school yet doesn't have that address anywhere on the envelope or paperwork. There's no return envelope. I can't find an envelope big enough for it.

I think I'm going to fail kindergarten registration.

What in the world do they want the SS# of everyone in the house for? Not here. Sounds to me like somebody dropped the ball on proof reading, too. And stuffing the packet. I think I'd be on the phone tomorrow morning and asking a bunch of questions.

Tami...who always hated the first day of school when all the emergency medical cards & bus cards came home.

I would ask why they need ALL the SSNs. I could see needing the child's for record keeping.

When I was a teenager, my mother thought chipmunks were cute. My Aunt next door cut down on the amount of cats & Mom was feeding them (the tree rats). The next thing we knew, there were chipmunks EVERYWHERE. Dozens of them, digging up all the bulbs & everything we planted. Emptying all the bird feeders. Running & playing & most of all multiplying. My Uncles were poisoning, trapping & shooting them until they finally got down to a manageable number. In later years, I had a Sheltie who thought it was her job to be on chipmunk patrol & she took it very seriously & kept them away. My Newf isn't that excited over such a small mouthfull but we have an Eskie who likes organic dog toys (mice & such are organic cat toys). Linda

Instead of scanning the form as a .pdf, scan it as a .rtf (RICH TEXT FORMAT). You should be able to select this under SCAN DOCUMENT SETTINGS. Then open the .rtf file with your word processor and edit as needed. After editing, save it as a .doc if you wish and then print-fax-email as needed or you can convert to .pdf if needed by using a free online pdf converter.

Yes- unfortunately the existing piece is actually probably a vanity masquerading as a desk (also a Facebook market find). It is not very ergonomic at all- it sort of traps your thighs in that upside down U thing and thus my husband won’t use it. I thought he’d eventually cave, but 2+ months of passive aggressively moving his paperwork and iPad off of our dining room table and onto our “desk” isn’t working. I’ve got to either replace it or find a 5 foot centerpiece for our diningroom.

Personally, I'd leave blank the SSNs.

And a little preview - this same school will send the same forms every single year your child is enrolled- because they can't track someone who sends in a form with "Same as last year", LOL. Yes, I know divorces take place, and information can change. But if it hasn't changed they should be able to cope with it.

I did send in all the forms, clipped together, labeled "same as last year", and I always got calls from the school office "You must fill out the forms!" Nope, our information hasn't changed - you transfer it.

I never fill in the ss # and they never have called and asked for it and my kids are in 10th and 12th grades now. I don't think they need that information.

Actually, I think legally they aren't allowed to require a Social Security number anymore. I'm pretty positive about that, and I never give that number. No one fusses over it. Some school systems simply haven't updated their forms yet.

Aren't you supposed to return it to school with your child?

The paperwork sounds pretty sloppy, but you'll be doing this every year so just be glad you don't have 4 kids.

It is important, though, especially any health issues and emergency phone numbers. I'd skip the SS#'s too. I don't think they need it. Just leave it blank.

The only people who need to know your Social Security Numbrers are banks and the IRS and employers. Also any federal or state aid programs like welfare, Medicaid, Food Stamp programs. Schools and doctors offices don't need them. Leave them blank.

I'vde been filling out my form for years.

Seems to be all going to pot, lately - some pants don't seem to fit like before. Hard to wear them to do anything strenuous ... when you have to breathe much.

I worked for a school in Ohio for 25 years. I remember the BIG deal quite a few years ago about not using even the student's SSN, let alone the parents/family members. We had to update all of our forms, eliminating the places asking for them. All students were assigned an ID number instead.

We have student IDs in PA so I'm not sure if they even have to know Nick's SSN. They're definitely not getting the other SSNs in our household. I left those blank.

They don't need any SS#..sometimes it's asked for in medical insurance but that would be only the person who's ss# it's under is necessary...
I leave it blank..they always ask for it on sports forms for our school district..or sometimes I'll put the first and second and leave the middle blank.
