Glad you will be seen this week. That is a long time to wait for the other dentist. I had a root canal with my last one, and although that wasn't fun, I felt better immediately. Never even took the pain meds that night. Good luck Friday!

Hope you're mouth is feeling better soon. I've been having pain since a few weeks before Christmas. I was put on antibiotics 3 days before Christmas. I couldn't even eat anything. As soon as food touched my mouth, I was in agony. I was brushing five or six times a day, used Listerine a few times a day, flossed, used those picks with the green bristles on them, Amosan, warm salt water, the whole nine yards. I finally got in for a cleaning after the new year. It took two visits and the pain got worse. Much worse. The dental office is 20 feet from work, just across the driveway. I was eating lunch a few weeks ago and just put the food in my mouth and almost hit the roof. I threw my lunch in the garbage and marched right back to the dentist. I was shaking the pain was so bad. The dentist though removing the metal fillings on the top row of the left side of my mouth *might* help. He put me on stronger penicillin and I was popping 2 400mg advils along with 2 extra strength tylenols every couple of hours (my doing, not prescribed). It killed my stomach, but was the only way the pain would subside. It took most of prescription of antibiotics before my mouth started to feel better. Last week Monday, I went to get 3 fillings replaced with white fillings. I sat in the chair shaking like a leaf. I had a bad experience 2 years ago and this visit was making me terrified. The dentist replaced the fillings, but when he began to remove the filling from one tooth, it shattered. It had a hairline fracture in it. He had to rebuild the tooth, putting in two posts. I need 3 crowns, but @ $500 per crown (that's my share after my benefits cover the other 50%), I can't afford it right now. Maybe in a few months when I'm credit card debt free, I'll get them. I do still have some pain. The gum is still very tender and I feel pressure in there. Even to rub my fface just under my cheekbone hurts. Not sure if it's because of the needles used to freeze me, or the extensive work the dentist did to my mouth. I'll give it a few more days to subide before I bug them again. At least I can eat again. I'm using Prevident toothpaste before I go to bed. Sensodyne during the day. Listerine. Floss. I never want to feel that pain again. It took six weeks to get rid of the worst of it.

Oh my, I so feel for you gals. In this day and age, why in the he!! can't these dentists be more advanced in dealing with these mouth problems? It seems like they have a lot of things that they can "try", which adds to the $$$. I certainly hope and Pray you both get some relief and cure soon.

Thanks...but I forgot to mention. The strange thing is that I am in no pain what so ever...not even when it was the size of a strawberry. I can brush, floss and pick with no problems.

Wow -- the no pain part is puzzling. I have had an
Abscessed tooth (then root canal - then all better) :),
but sure had lots of pain.

Has a dentist actually looked at the tooth yet -- or
just prescribed antibiotics over the phone? That's
strange - to me anyway.

Anyway best of luck -- root canals are really no
problem if that is what you need --just take time)

It is strange. At first I thought it was just an allergic reaction to the Sloppy Joes I made. SOmetimes tomato paste or sause does that. Nope....nothing more than an annoyence because I feel the bump with my tongue.
