Prayers needed

My sister's husband was just diagnosed with liver cancer. His prognosis is not good. They go to the oncologist later this week so I'm not sure if anything can be done but I do know that prayers work.

I'm feeling so sad for my sister. Her husband is a very private person and he has refused all help from any of us except his wife. They have kids in school and I know that she will need help with the house and kids. We are not allowed to visit but she did send an email asking for prayers. We've all tried to call but so far she won't answer or return our calls. So please pray for him and also my sister. I want to respect his wishes but want to offer assistance to my sister.

Scissors...will pray for you all... that he will be able to accept the help he needs from the medical communtiy and from friends and family, and that your sister will take care of herself also in this trying time. Praying for you also, that you will have the guidance you need in how to help them both.

Sorry. I am having a hard time putting my thoughts down tonight, just know that you are in my thoughts.

Lifting you all up to the Lord in prayer.. Just be there for them... and perhaps they will decide to ask to see you later on...

Thank you all for your support. :) It has been a very long 2 days. We were able to have it operated on the first day. It was Local antiscizea, (you all must be getting a laugh at my spelling, but that's ok too, we need a laugh sometimes-- lol) so she didn't need to come out of it like before, that was bad. The operation went well, we actually could watch it on a tv screen in the waiting room! EEWWWW!! I watched in another area about train rides-- lol Dad and Ron watched the operation.. again.. EEWWWW!! But it went well. Now all we need to do is keep her hands away from it, she has something called a "shunt" or something like that to help it drain the fluids that causes the pressure to build up. You can NOT rub your eyes with that in!! This is going to be fun!! Then the doctor wanted to see how she was doing the next day! The first day was in a storm, both ways, in the dark for a lot of the drive. Yesterday wasn't so bad, just a bit of fog in the morning. The ride home was quite pretty. She has gotten worse in her world, it is hard to tell just what she is seeing anymore, The whole trip she was seeing kittens and puppies, and little kids, they were all in the car with us. And in the Dr. office, and in the parking lot, they are every where she goes! She was blind with the bandage on her eye, and seeing all this in her mind, so now we are not sure what she is "actually" seeing and what she "thinks" she is seeing. The doctor was real kind with her about that, but we aren't sure what her eyesight is right now. But she should be seeing some things now. I keep thinking that at least she is seeing cute little things, puppies, kittens, sometimes rabbits, and the kids. With my luck, I will be seeing spiders and bugs!lol We can't handle this here anymore. We will be looking into nursing homes soon for her. I feel bad for my dad mostly. I can't imagin what he is feeling right now... not the way they wanted to end up. I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy. I think we could handle either physical or mental, but not both, and that is where she is right now. At least, for now anyway, she still knows who we are, but at the rate she is headed? tomorrow may be a different story.. But thanks again for the kind words, thoughts and prayers and all the support. :) Thanks for letting me "talk" :) Marjie~ emotionally exhausted...

He should be put under your insurance, thats the new law they kids can be covered until age 26. It's a wonderful safety net in this economy when jobs are so hard to find. Prayers being said.

Thanks much. I too am having a hard time with all of this. I really want to help my sister out but I'm not sure how to do this when we are asked not to. I hope that at least she will take some help when her road becomes unbearable.

Oh, that is so hard. Hard to feel helpless in that situation. I have had many friends go through cancer, and so many of them refuse connection and support - I have to say that those who welcome and who are open seem to fare much better.

I will pray for them both, and for you.

Scissors, this sounds like very new news for them, they are probably reeling. I know with some people it takes those further Dr. appointments, when a plan is laid out and they have action of some kind, any kind, that they can take, begin, before they are able to talk or want people around. Hopefully when they know what kind of help they might need, they will be more open to it.

I have a dear friend, related by marriage, who is just beginning chemo (2 weeks now) and she has admittedly turned into a raging control freak (I say that lovingly). She has limited control over her medical plan of action and her illness, so she's going to control what she can: us. Just be as understanding as possible, and make it clear you are available on his terms. I'll add prayers for peace and hope for all of you...

Such huge and usually unexpected shocks surely do turn one`s world upside down.

And for bystanders who care, it is so hard, when you`d like to do something ... or just be there ... at a trying time ...

... but can`t.

I hope that he opens up a little and is willing to tolerate family and friends ... especially to be with his wife and the kids, if he doesn`t feel like it, for now, at least.

Sending good thoughts for all of the family, especially for him and your sister.

And offering some prayers for all of you ... hoping that there may be healing and better news than he expects/fears.

Scissors, your sister and her DH are in my prayers. I'm so sorry that he won't allow anyone in to offer her support, perhaps that will come. All you can do is be there for her, which I know you will. I'm sending her prayers for strength.
