I like the small narcissus too, I have a few, but a couple are just TOO small. Way to hard to see when they are only a few inches tall & small blooms too. Good luck with the epimediums. I started out with 4 that I traded for. Their previous owner wasn't having luck with them. They were really tiny that first year, & I lost 1. The other 3 took a while to get started, but are going pretty well now. I love their delicate little flowers, but I wouldn't call them showy. I do love the grape hyacinths, I always wait til after they finish blooming to start digging them out :) I'll still have plenty next year, it is impossible to get all those little bulbs. Probably shouldn't tell you the cat's name, Kay :) His official name is Roadkill, we call him Roady. I found him as a kitten in the middle of a busy intersection one morning on my way to work. I stopped my car in the road, got out, & barely grabbed him by the tail before he could run under the car. I guess he was grateful, because he is a wonderful lap cat. He is always with me when I garden. I should get a picture sometime of him when he is "helping". My method of weeding is kneeling, leaning on my stomach over a stool. Seems to take pressure off my back & knees that way, although I'm sure I'm a sight to behold. Often, Roady will be sitting on my back, overseeing the work. Thanks Rita. If you need any hyacinths, let me know & I'll send some your way :) As for the trees behind the magnolia, the one closest is a pussy willow, the far one is a flowering pear. I don't think it is a Bradford pear, the shape is different, & we haven't lost any limbs out of this one. I didn't get any clump pictures of my Red Marley daffs, but I really like them. Professor Einstein and Red Devon are really nice too A blurry Red Marley Cindy, I believe Manly is one that I was debating on getting. Looks a little like Gold Ducat, but would be nice to have one that doesn't flop.

Thank you all - they are definitely very me whatever that is. I actually had more of a color scheme going originally but somehow they have multiplied into every color and I like it. I do have more pastels in the front and hotter colors as you move behind the deck. The house is not really that big but it's spread out and has a lot of volume. I really like things rather neat if you can imagine that with all this disorder and I like to see a repetition down the garden of something that is starring at the moment - daffodils in a similar tone in the spring, then the peonies and iris, then the daylilies, later it's asters and phlox. You know the funny thing about that CindySunshine name is I totally made it up as I was registering on gardenweb out of nothing - but I am definitely a sunshine girl always have loved summer and sunshine. If you look at that first picture with the front borders, I am standing on the driveway - if you look thru the daylilies (and BTW that is "Cherry Chapeau" that is the brilliant burst of color in the foreground) past the flowers around the lamppost and then the line of big trees, that's where the orchard is - you drive up through it as you go up toward the house. If you turn to your left that's where the butterfly garden is that I posted earlier. We built the house 20 years ago - we literally crawled thru the brush and hacked things down to find that there was a lovely spot up here to build. I was thrilled to find the combination of trees in the background, but sunny areas around the house for my gardens. The ground was really not very good at all - we built it up mostly with just work, compost, mulch, weeding, weeding, weeding, weeding - sometimes I feel like I've spent half my life weeding - LOL. Here's the vegie garden a couple weeks ago before the corn got so tall... Quick view of the pond - I took this several weeks ago (notice the same gazing ball that is now engulfed in stuff in those shots this morning - I was worried at the time about the pedestel it stood on and whether I should paint it - like why bother - LOL. And finally behind the deck - I took this in the spring right after the japanese maples leafed out - my easiest least maintenance area of the garden - all I do is put a handful of fertilizer around them in the spring. They don't even ever get watered, hostas do great. Thank you all. :)

Nancy, yes, it is really that pink - and even better like Juliet's picture shows (SHE is the reason I bought this one). okbt - a lot of my daylilies have diamond dusting, but NONE of them compare to how PP is. I can see her shining from far away. I still have some newbies to go, so I might find another one... Chris - I got two whole buds on CC. But, to be fair, she just went in on March 31. I was just happy to see that it was the right CV, and to get a glimps of that happy bloom. I can't wait until the eyezone thickens up a bit. I look forward to seeing yours! Thanks Kathy! Uh, Juliet, You, my dear, are the reason I bought this daylily! I just fell in love with it. I think it was on that post where you shot your beds from the upstairs window. I am so excited that it is blooming. Three fans, three scapes. AND if you can believe it, last year, after it was planted, I slid down the little hill where it is planted and broke off all three fans at the crown. Didn't seem to mind at all, grew back big and strong. No spring sickness on this one, but I am having the darndest time with Awesome Artist. I am starting to think it has a viral infection. It has made three good looking scapes, which didn't even get to branch out - they turned yellow, brown and died. The leaves are also yellowing, but in a weird way. While the outside leaves look ok, the middle leaves (not the new ones, but not the outside ones) are yellowing badly. AA is right next to Cantique and Clothed in Glory, both of which are doing fantastic and have super branching and budcounts. So, I know it is not under/over watering. I checked around the rootzone, and there are no air pockets either. The roots look ok. Weird. Ever see anything like that?

Thanks everyone for your comments they are greatly appreciated. I am trying to be patient but I want them to be big now!! :) Moccasin- We do have three Japanese maples in that area now a Crimson Queen, a full moon and a autumn moon they are pretty small as I had to get them mail order so they are hard to see, we also have out several hundred mixed narcissus bulbs out for early spring color. I know what you mean about shopping I have orders in with Made in the Shade and Naylor. I am going to try to pace myself though (is that even possible) as this is going to be a long term project.
