Forever Stamps

Since I just read that postage is going up again in May, think I'll buy some Forever Stamps prior to that. (A penny saved is a penny earned. lol) Thought I'd share info in case you hadn't heard it yet.

LOL Now that is funny. I wonder if we had invested in the forever stamps when laughter above did, if we would have more money in our "investments" than investing in the markets. Thta is a very sad thing to think about. I was trying to be funny and ended up not. LOL They are already talking about raising stamp prices again in a few months, along with reducing mail to 5 days a week. My mother in law was upset on Thursday and was telling me all about it and I was like I already know, it means 1 less day for seeds and she was COMPLETELY disgusted with me. But then I told her to start buying the forever stamps. Maybe I should tell her to take her CD money and invest in forever stamps. LOL

The "Forever" stamps are calculated for 1 oz. first class letter mailing. If I'm mailing a package or an oversized envelope, etc., requiring more than 44 cents, I just let the postal person use their postage meter labels. I've futzed around with 1 and 2 cent stamps to make up for postage increases long enough - these Forevers are brilliant as far as I'm concerned. I bought $100 worth when they were first introduced at 42 cents way back in April of 2007. Still using them with a handful of cards left to go. I'm glad there will be commemoratives though, the regular postal issues can be a bit bland.

Oh, I use quite a few stamps. I still write letters and send out birthday, get well cards and all kinds of cards so I do use them up in time. I still have some stamps from the last time. Tomorrow I will mail out my Mother's Day Card. I don't pay any bills. Sue

Oooo, another excuse to go to Costco! I didn't even know they had them. Are they the forever stamps? When I said I bought postage stamps in the original post, I meant that I bought POST CARD stamps!!!! I'll be getting more next week. With almost 40 in the exchange, plus the 60 or so that I send other wise, I need to get them early! Tami

Gee that is good news to hear!! Why not everything else is going up so why not stamps!!!! I know
one thing Maryland is really getting hit bad, first our gas and electric company went up 72%, then the
beginning of the year our state sales tax went up along with the prices for cigarettes then again in June
the gas and electric will go up another 5&. With the price of gas being what is going for $2.89
it is getting very expensive to live in Maryland.

I was thinking this (buying the forever stamp) would be a good way to 'invest' some of the tax stimulis check we're supposed to receive! :-)
