recipe for rolls using a cake mix

I thought I saw a recipe on here not to long ago where you used a white or yellow cake mix and some other ingredients and yeast. Do you remember this if you do can someone help me locate it please

I've used cake mix to make cookies before but never heard of making rolls from it. Interesting.

Here is one I have in my file, but I have never made it:

Overnight Cinnamon Breakfast Rolls
1 18 oz box of vanilla cake mix
5 1/4 c flour
2 pkg (or T) dry yeast
1 t salt
2 1/2 c warm water
1/2 c sugar
2 t cinnamon
1/2 c butter, melted
1/2 c raisins (optional)
3/4 c chopped pecans (optional)
1 c powdered sugar
3 T milk
1/2 t vanilla
STIR together first 5 ingredients in a large bowl. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
COMBINE 1/2 c sugar and cinnamon
TURN dough onto floured surface. Divide in 1/2. Roll one portion into an 18 x 12 inch rectangel. Brush with half of butter and sprinkle with half of sugar mixture, half of raisins and 1/4 c pecans.
ROLL up starting at long end. Cut into 16 slices. Place into lightly greased 13x9 inch pan. Repeat procedure with remaining rectangle. Cover and chill 8 hours.
REMOVE from refrigerator and let stand 30 minutes.
BAKE at 350 for 20-25 minutes or until golden. Cool slightly.
STIR powdered sugar, milk and vanilla. Drizzle over rolls. Sprinkle with remaining pecans. Yield, 32 rolls.

I hate coffee, too. You could, of course, just use water instead of coffee. Or a combo of water and a flavor extract like walnut, almond, cinnamon, etc. Or how about using rum, or even brandy? The alcohol would bake away, leaving the flavor in your cake.

If I'm making the basic cake (white, yellow, chocolate, etc.) I always sift the powder mix first. I use applesauce instead of oil and I always add vanilla no matter what flavor cake I'm making. If I use the whole egg (I usually use the whites only), I beat the whites separately from the yolk before adding anything else. I've been told that my cakes have the texture of wedding cakes. Now as for variations I have added peanut butter and chocolate (a personal favorite) to a white cake, sour cream to a chocolate cake, strawberries to a white cake (omit water) and I am currently making pumpkin bars from a spice cake mix (which led me to your site because I was looking for a way to turn a white cake into a spice cake so I can double it). Use four eggs instead of three, add a can of pumpkin and a quarter of a cup of applesauce (or oil if you prefer), omit water. Bake as directed on the box.

This is one from Cakecentral.com and if you go to that site, there are endless variations. The *Original* WASC cake recipe Ingredients * The *original* WASC cake recipe by kakeladi 1 box cake mix (I prefer Betty Crocker) *see notes at end 1 cup flour* 1 cup granulated sugar generous dash of salt 1 cup sour cream* 1 cup water * 3 whole eggs 1 tablespoon flavoring* Instructions In bowl mix together dry ingredients. ItÂs helpful to use a wire whisk; important w/choco cake not so much for other flavors. In mixer bowl place next 4 ingredients. Add about 1/2 of the dry ingredients and blend together, then add the rest of the dry ingredients & blend. Mix for 2 minutes. Pour into prepared pans * and bake as usual. *NOTES: *ANY* cake flavor can be used. Some tell me they just dump all ingredients into the bowl together others say they sift all dry ingredients together. Match the flavoring to the cake flavor such use lemon/almond mix for lemon cake; strawberry for a strawberry cake etc, etc. For most flavors you can use a mixture of vanilla, butter, and almond which is what I do most of the time. You can use milk, juice, thawed fzn concentrates, soda pop (ie: Coke) cream or just about anything wet for the liquid. This recipe is based on mixing in a kitchenaid mixer. I use position #1 to stir it, then #4 to mix the batter. Most of the time I forget to add the salt:) On rare occasions I have used other brands of mix. This makes the amount of batter as if you used 1 1/2 mixes and is perfect for a 10â³ sq OR 9Ã13 OR one 8â³ & two 6â³ round;OR two 8â³rounds OR a 12â³ round; and other combinations of pans. I prefer to bake at 300 degrees for about 20-30 minutes (depending on size of cake) then turn oven up to 325 for about an equal time. If cake has pulled away from sides it is overbaked. After cooling, the top might be a bit sticky. Some people have told me they use plain or flavored yogurt instead of sour cream. IÂve always used all purpose flour. Some tell me they use cake flour but then the amount is less Â maybe 3/4 cup Â not sure. The flavoring I most often use is this mixture: 1 part vanilla extract 1/2 part butter flavoring 1/4 part almond flavoring A "Part" is any measure be it teaspoon; tablespoon; cup or quart Smile Since I made many wedding cakes I usually mixed it up by the cup:)

We used to call it Dump Cake because you just "dumped" everything in. I hope this is it. Dump Cake Ingredients 1 (21 ounce) can cherry pie filling 1 (15 ounce) can crushed pineapple 1 (18.25 ounce) package yellow cake mix 8 ounces chopped walnuts 1/2 cup butter Directions In a 9x13 inch pan mix cherries and pineapple. Sprinkle dry cake mix over pineapple, and cherry mixture stir until just combined. Then sprinkle walnuts over top. Drizzle top with melted butter or margarine. Bake in a 350 degree F (175 degree C) oven for 35 or 40 minutes or until golden brown.

Got this recipe for cinnamon rolls from a Tupperware party at least 35 (Gulp!) years ago and it's been a family favorite ever since.

Cinnamon Rolls

2 pkg yeast
2 cups warm water
Box of white cake mix
4 cups flour

Filling

1 stick butter or margarine (melted)
Sugar to your taste *
Cinnamon to your taste *
Walnuts (optional)

Vanilla Frosting

* I keep a big shaker bottle of sugar/cinnamon mixture in the cupboard for toast, cereal, etc., not sure of the exact ratio.

Dissolve 2 pkgs yeast in 2 cups of warm water in large bowl. Add box of cake mix and 4 cups of flour. Mix well. Let rise to double, about one hour (in my oven, just barely turned on).
Roll flour mixture into large rectangle on a floured surface, to about 1/4 to Â½ inch thick. Pour melted butter along center of rectangle and spread to edges until entire surface is covered with butter. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon (I spread it on pretty thick) and add nuts if desired. Very gently roll the rectangle into one (lengthwise) log. I use a floured spatula to lift and roll, lift and roll, etc. Cut roll into 3/4 inch slices. Let your rolls rise for another 45 minutes and bake 20 minutes at 350 degrees. Frost with vanilla frosting while still warm.
