I have these wall vases and change out what I put in them.

Could you put a long narrow shelf under the mirror and put the branches in vases? Maybe you could pull out the sectional just a bit and have a narrow sofa table behind it with the vases and branches. I love having natural elements, but I think these need some grounding. Also, like your reflected vase with the tall stems.

They are okay, but I think they would look better if they were some how anchored. ie a small shelf, corbel or some such thing. Another example would be if they were on a mantle they could be in a vase. Here they look a little strange without something on the bottom. Hope that helps. Others may be able to offer more help :)

Thanks for the ideas. But these babies are already easy assess to my 5 year old and 2 year old. So vases are out of the question, even though I think they would be awesome and I loved the link you shared sameboat!

I do think they need to be anchored and hadn't thought of it that way before. Maybe I can be creative and come up with a kid-friendly plan....

How about putting them in sconce-like vases attached to the wall?

I'm not sure you need anything but the pretty mirror. I'd lower it a little though so that it is centered with the pictures- as many inches above the pictures as below the pictures. The 2 pictures, the mirror, and the lamp look like enough to me.

parry0315, it did look a little bare without something and I agree that the mirror should be a little lower. my father and dh hung it together since it weighs a ton and the reason it's a little up is so the kids don't pull on it. Still, I see what you mean.

Purchase a wooden vase and have someone cut it in half length wise. There's an example of one attached. Then get out your trusty glue gun, run a rim of glue on the edges of each side and glue it over the bottom of the twigs so they appear to be in a vase. Check out this one.

I think what is 'off' to me is that they are bundled at the bottom and that seems to be where they are attached to the wall. Maybe move what they are tied together w/ up like a sheah of wheat and then attache them to the wall at that point. It would give a bit of balance to the twigs.

They look better but still a bit unfinished. I think they would look better if they were doubled in size. All you need to ground them is some pretty ribbon on the bottoms. Bows would look kind of country, but you don't have to do bows.

Then I would find a few long stemmed pods or other natural dried flowers to add to each bunch.

I like the idea of using these to fill up your wall.

Cindloo123, well I do have a bunch more that I stuck in a floor vase. I'll try supersizing them and see what I think. Thanks for the idea!

I do think you need to add more to them, they are completely outweighed by the mirror.

I would add more twigs, but be sure to vary the heights a bit more so you get a fuller effect lower on the sides. When you are ready to bind them, first do it with a rubber band, further up on the twig bundle as you did the second attempt. Then, go to the craft store and get some aluminum 12 gauge craft wire in silver. Wrap them at the binding point a number of times, so that the silver wrap really shows and is several inches in width. It will give them an accent in silver that will connect with the mirror. The wire is inexpensive and easy to use, cut with wire cutters or pliers. You can also buy it on Amazon:

You want the heavier 12 gauge, so that it looks like something. In wire gauges, the lower the number, the bigger the wire.

I haven't read all the replies so you might already have a solution, but you could always attach a sconce shelf to the wall with lag bolts or mollies, then find fairly inexpensive vases and anchor them down with museum putty. It's a sticky clear or grey substance that is almost the consistency of modeling clay and is used by museums ---really----to anchor just about anything in an exhibit.

The branches by themselves look like you haven't figured out what to do with them yet.

les917, i didn't think of using the silver wiring. I did use wire that was covered to look like twigs. I might try the silver idea!

ANother vote for "you need a vase" something to make them look not just nailed to the wall. I think they will look great on sconce shelves in vases (anchored as suggested!)

I think that the Pottery Barn wall vases would look great up there.
