What color shutters would you use with this yellow siding?

This is my house, anyone have advise on what color shutters we should get? We were leaning towards black and then also painting the garage doors black, but I don't know! I'd rather not paint the garage doors to match the siding, but I really don't know what will look best! Help!!

Thanks squirrelheaven for all the visuals. Thanks everyone for the great suggestions. I can't make a lot of changes at this point as I just was wanting to change the shutter color and add/remove shutters but when I saw the lamp post, I fell in love with the character it gave the house. I had the one plant stand that I keep filled with flowers beside my front door. I guess I can put it in the back yard so I don't have window boxes and planters....maybe too much going on. I think I'm going to take the advice and not put shutters around bay window. And I love the lamp post so I want to add that and of course I love the flower boxes but who knows if I could keep them looking pretty all year. I may just start out with one on the bay and the one on front rail and add more later on the bay if I decide to or I may just do all by the bay. Ack! It all looks cute. Since I don't have but one set of shutters on the house and one front door, why would it look better to have each different colors? Why does having the door and shutters the same color not work? I'm just curious and interested. I've always liked black shutters/trim on a white house, but I really dont' have much trim on the house. I figured too that I wouldn't be so limited to feel like I had to plant red flowers each year to kind of blend in. I added the shutters to the bay window when I was considering making the shutters all black and thought the black bay window shutters would balance out so I'd have a set of shutters on each side of the red door. That's why I did that. But after seeing all the visuals, keeping it red looks good with all the added character but still curious why most say to make door different that shutter color. myfoursquare - Thank you again! It's way easier to see your way than having them tipped up by the windows on the bottom. I really don't know if I like them. I'm kind of on the fence. Hubby likes your pic, but he also likes the white band with it which would maybe be too much. I think we should wait too until I can get to the door. So helpful that you did that - we really appreciate it, thank you!!! jterrilynn - I agree. I'm hoping to get out today to see if any places have any nice pots left. We have so much snow here in Montana that I might just stay home today. Thanks for your feedback. It really helps. dedtired - HA! That made me laugh! We aren't going to do the vents. We did have them before the house was resided and I just got tired of them and was happy to see them go even though they added a little "something" to the house. Thanks for the feedback on the trim. We can't take the door off in this weather to paint it in the garage (it's 6 degrees here this morning why do I live here?!)so it may be awhile before we can paint and post a pic, but I will do it.

What would be the best color for the siding with the tan/yellow brick?

I think a medium to dark blue/gray would be a lovely contrast to the gold in the brick, and would work well with a charcoal colored roof.

It appears, the front door isnt in yet, but, what I dont see, is any type of covered entry on the front. That alone would add interest to the house, and once landscaping is all done, it will look very nice.

Off the cuff, I would think black, white, navy blue, dark grey, dark green could all pair well with yellow.

Black shutters on a yellow house with white trim and window casing looks great, but don't do the garage black too. If anything maybe do a wood look paint technique to the garage door, in a dark teak or similar shade. We have 2 high end homes near us that have this combo and it looks lovely.

Black and dark green would both look great. Dark navy would also be a stunning option. Black is so common it might be nice to do something a little different, but as long as you go dark, and not dark brown, I think you are good to go.

Just reiterating the people above who have suggested dark green. My shutters are dark, almost black green, and the house is gold. It looks yellow in this pic, which may help you, but the truer house color is the second pic below, which is a bit older, and where the shutters appear black! :-)

Ok, I will try to post a picture again! Thank you for helping me!! Let me know what you all think once you have seen the house - our front door is updated and wooden now. The old color (the shutters are faided) was a dark green and I just didn't like it. The garage doors are a big part of what you see from the street, but the white-ish color they are right now is so wishy-washy. Anyone know how to photoshop to show options? Of course we still have to landscape too. Thanks again!!!

All of the paint companies, behr, sherwin williams and benjamin moore have photoshop type programs so you can play with their colors. I do it for people some times but am pressed for time. If you can get it to happen by Sunday, I'll be glad to toy with it for you.

FYI, the BM sight is very finicky, if you haven't done it before, I'd go with Sherwin Williams first.
