Houzz will present a thread in connection to a current one, despite the age and if you don't notice, you find yourself responding. :-) I doubt the original poster is still shopping. But....since it has come up, I may as well update my experiences. I used to use Wilson Farms at times, until they converted another area of their already small garden center, to their cooked food and specialty food, by building out and now there is barely enough room for a couple of six packs of pansies. [g] Stonegate, was bought out by Weston Nurseries and after a year at that location they closed it down. For some reason that was not a popular location. I found it easier because it was closer than Hopkinton but...really, when I went after Weston took it over, it looked just like the old Stonegate. I don't know what will happen to it now. It was a good size area and they built a beautiful stone foundation glass house for indoor plants etc. I haven't been to Weston Nurseries in the last couple of years, mainly because I'm not doing a lot of garden shopping. Same for Mahoney's. I did switch mulch to Russell's and I seem to have settled on them for most things. I wish for a new choice really. Especially a new nursery that specializes in houseplants. I'm never happy with what all the nurseries around here offer for houseplants. It would be great if someone that grows their own houseplants opened up for business. I'm not enamored with the corporate houseplant business.

We are in the process of rennovating our kitchen and we are installing a Russell Range. From my understanding, they have gone out of business but I was wondering if anyone has one of these and what your thoughts are on them? Thanks!

I finally had the opportunity to watch it tonight, having taped it earlier. I told my husband that we were going to watch it tonight and he exclaimed,Â" IsnÂt this the 49th version of Jane Eyre that you have seen?" Now that may be an exaggeration but I have seen all the movie versions of the novel. For me it is like having a vase of all my favourite flowers and hiring ten different but talented artists painting it. All unique interpretations of my flowers, but each one enjoyable for its perspective. That is the way I looked at this production; and I did enjoy it tremendously. But IÂve liked them all for various reasons. I thought the atmosphere was very well done. It captured that solitary feeling that was so very much part of JaneÂs earlier years. For example, I really felt her emotions when she first arrived at Thornfield  that lantern was the only comfort in what was a strange and intimidating environment. So much remained dark and mysterious, illuminated only by candlelight or fire. As for Rochester, he was younger and more vulnerable looking than my mindÂs version but that was OK  they had definite chemistry, so I forgive JaneÂs only claim to plainness which was heavy eyebrows. IÂve always liked the bedroom scene after Jane rescues Rochester from the fire, "You are leaving me, now, must you?" I told my husband that I would have been totally weak-willed and would have tackled ole Rochester to the bed at that point and, alas, the novel would have ended then, being far, far removed from the classic that it is today. They cheated on the gypsy in this version, though. I prefer Rochester in drag. IÂm glad I taped it so that I can rewatch it . And if someone decides to produce Version #50, IÂll set my TV to record.

The powdery mildew on the foliage is a minor issue and is somewhat common on Jane and the other hybrid magnolias belonging to the Little Girl series bred at the U. S. Arboretum in the 1950s. After the tree sheds its leaves this autumn, I'd collect them and dispose of them so no spores overwinter on the foliage. As late as it is in the growing season now, I wouldn't bother spraying the plant. Spraying wouldn't reverse what already is there or make it go away or anything. Spraying works better as a preventive to keep powdery mildew from appearing and getting established. If it bothers you (and I do understand your sentimental attachment to this tree planted in memory of your dear daughter) to think of it spreading more, you could spray with either a baking soda spray or neem oil or a commercial fungicide whose label says it can be used to prevent the spread of PM just to see if you can keep it from spreading more, but there's no guarantee at this point that any spray would prevent its spread (short of removing all the leaves) since it already is established. PM is common on some plants here late in the season when we are having high relative humidity in the air but when the ground itself is pretty dry, particularly on stressed plants or those with poor air circulation around them. Those conditions often exist together in dry autumn weather like we've had this year in most of Oklahoma. Unlike many other fungal diseases, PM doesn't really need wet foliage to thrive.
