I've been sick since Saturday night and haven't done much more then just sleep. Bad week for me,

Well I have been lazy. Went to a water walking session on Monday and then grocery shopping. Today-nothing. Tomorrow I have to clean because Im having a birthday dinner for my youngest daughter (25 yrs old) and the guest room is soooo bad that you can hardly see the bed. Thursday I'll drive to Pa to pick up my daughter and then back to Maryland. Having 10 for dinner Thursday night. Saturday back to Pa then a couple of days spent with my sister. Im tired just thinking about it.

I have been doing yard work and started my garden today. Tomorrow will be cold so may catch up on eBay listing and book work.

It is very, very cold here. We have snow on the ground and are supposed to get more snow on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Yesterday, bridge. Today, did some cleaning then went to the movies with DH and out to dinner. Tomorrow some more cleaning, laundry, baking and out to dinner with some friends. Thursday I have a luncheon with some lady friends and I have Mexican Train here Thursday night, hence the cleaning and baking. Friday night I'm going to a friends, our movie group (11 ladies) is going to watch Blue Jasmine since we missed it when it was in the theaters. We're having lasagna, someone is bringing garlic bread, salad, wine and I'm bringing strawberries Romanoff. Sunday the movie group is having an Oscar party and I'm bringing sweet and sour meatballs, popcorn with white truffle butter and cheese stuffed strawberriesâ¦..and that's my week.

As I've been purging this house of stuff, today I got the last of it (for a while anyway) gathered up and Interfaith came and got it for their thrift shop. Now every drawer and closet is cleaned out--even my junk drawer in the kitchen. Our weather's been on the gray side and I haven't been sleeping well lately, so yesterday I was pretty much a slug.

Finally heard from the surgeon's office and the earliest I could get in for a consult is March 10. Saw my oncologist last week and he had been left out of the loop completely. I was not happy about that and I don't think he was either. But he got on the phone and spoke to an oncologist at Shands (where I'll have my surgery) and that really got the ball rolling. Finally. Just want to get this over with.

Last Friday I had Stanley Steamer come and clean the bedroom carpets. I don't have carpet anyplace else anymore. Also had them clean and protect the white couch in the Florida room and the area rug in the living room. But the greatest thing was they cleaned the ceramic tile in the kitchen. I could not believe how dirty the grout was in there. Ick! They also sealed it and said it would last for at least a year. It also took all the dirt out of those little pock marks the tile has. It looks brand new.

Tomorrow I'll take my taxes in to Steve to figure and pick up a copy of my PET scan for the surgeon. I need to stop by Lowe's and get some tile samples for the backsplash in the kitchen and also some paint samples for the kitchen. My as well stock up on my protein drinks while I'm out--and need to remember to gas up the car.

Don't know what the rest of the week will bring but I'd like to do some baking sometime.

We had a beautiful "false Spring" day today. Love it!

Marilyn Sue... I hope you will go to that writing class. A few years ago Alisande (I think) did a writing(sorta) class here at the KT. It really was a springboard for me to really continue writing my 'stories' about my life. I really treasure the memories that came from those writings and continue some all of the time. I am always surprised at the 'discoveries' I have hidden in my memories. Do try it. My Mom and her sisters grew up on a farm in Ohio, and I would just love to have "their memories" to see today.... and I bet you have many of them too. You and I have lived thru years that have changed so rapidly....seen so many changes; I think our grandchildren need to know about those "little' things about our history.

It is soooooo cold here I am hibernating. We are way below what the temperature should be at this time of year. We are getting ready for renovating this Spring. New kitchen, flooring and widening doorways to make things wheelchair accessible.

I have a friend that has cancer and is only expected to live a short time. I need to go see her but it's so hard to know what to say, I'm making cookies to take because her daughter and three little girls live in the house with her. I really dread going but really need to go.

Mom had spinal fusion surgery yesterday, so I spent Monday getting ready, Tuesday in the surgery waiting all day, and today, I'm exhausted. I will go see her at lunch or after work, but today is my sister's "turn" for the hard stuff. Glad it's over and very glad it went well, and very very glad she is in fantastic spirits. Much better than the last time. Last time she had the lower vertebrae worked on this time, her neck. Before, long incision, this time one that is about an inch or two long. Last time was weeks and weeks of rehab, this time, maybe a few days. She's hoping to be out today, but that might be a bit wishful. She seemed in good enough shape it could work? But I wouldn't think so. We'll see how long it takes.

She has twin friends who both had to have this exact same surgery last year and one did great and one had a really hard time. She couldn't talk or eat for a long time. We were all holding our breath, thinking it could go either way. When she got back to the room and she could talk, oh my. We were all elated! 'specially her. I hadn't realized it until she did talk, that I had worried it might've gone even worse (not death, but that is a possibility for any surgery), and that when she said I love you before being wheeled in, that it might have been the last time I heard it. So glad that's not true!

Nothing too much, aside from the fact that we're going to see a cancer doc today.

Hubby had a bunch of biopsies taken from his prostate which all came back negative. He then had a procedure done to make him pee better (TMI for you, sorry.)
They then found cancer from the stuff they took out, so we're going to find out his options. Radiation or surgery. Either one means in a different city than our own.

WE spent last weekend in Palm Springs, the weather was beautiful in the 80's every day, almost too hot for me. I am playing airport shuttle for DD#2 this week, she went to Arizona yesterday, pick her up Friday and she flies out to San Francisco Saturday coming home on Tuesday~~conferences for work. We are also on baby watching, waiting for DS's first little one to be born, due March 13th, but dr's say really any time between now and then. So excited;)

Left shoulder has been sore for awhile. Finally made appt...found out from
X-ray which was taken ...I have a bone spur ... Ouch!!! Had a shot of cortisone n start PT. Hope it works bc I don't want to have surgery if I can prevent it.

Not much of anything happening here this week, at least not for me. Dh has a bucket load of things on his plate, but I, being pretty much confined to the house in this wintery weather, am living "the life of Riley". Today's sunny, but bitter cold temps allows me the luxury of basking in a sun filled room reading, listening to favorite music and watching the birds at the feeders.

Hope to be able to get out tomorrow to visit 2 very dear friends who are in the same nursing home undergoing intense therapy after life altering illnesses. Their situation forces me to be thankful for small blessings.

Part of my reading material today is a long letter regarding a study being done on muscle diseases by a doctor in DC. with an invitation to participate through contributing blood tests or muscle biopsy. Results will not help me, but I will be happy to become involved as it may lead to help for others in the future.

Had my cataract surgery this morning. Wasn't bad at all. I was very nervous about it because I haven't had any type of surgery before. Also, had to go through it without my husband.
My daughter took me and it was a piece of cake.

Just grocery shopping. Weather reports say we're going back tomorrow to temps hovering around -0.
We went through the entire month of January, and half of Feb. without seeing temperatures below freezing or if we still have grass under the deep snow.

Yogalady..My first DH and I went to Palm.Springs every year around this time...with this frigid cold here in Philadelphia area of Pa. I miss PS. did get there 2 years ago,tho.

Wow! So much going on with so many people. I feel for all of you who are going through tests, waiting for tests, worrying for loved ones. Lots of stressful things for me lately, but it is just making me much busier than I want to be. Biggest concern is helping my sister maintain her independence. Besides her normal problems, she broke her ankle last week. Then I look at local and national news and I see what horrible situations so many people are struggling with.

I have been working all week on tiling our master bath, one more wall to go, which will take me the next 2-3 days. DH is wanting to get out of the house, he thinks it would be good for us. ;o)

Well, since you asked - DH had a heart attack last Saturday and had a stent put in. He is 58. This was his first surgery and the first real health issue he has ever had.

This week we are trying to adjust to the prescribed lifestyle changes he is to make - diet, exercise, etc. He is a travelling salesman and is very sedentary and quite heavy. I made an appointment with an attorney for next week for us to make wills. We have nothing in place, but we need to. :(

We are also sick to death of winter, and the weatherman just told us to expect 6-8 inches of snow this weekend and then temperatures below zero for next week. We are making plans to go visit DH's only sibling, his brother, in Oklahoma soon (we are in north Missouri).

Patti, thanks for telling me that Stanley Steamer does grout and floor tile - I'll be calling them Friday - mine is disgusting, too! I have used EVERYTHING I hear of (or read about) to clean mine and it just won't do the job - great to get a referral!

I've been working in the yard when it's warm enough, and cleaning house a lot, because it's up for sale and we've been having almost daily showings. I've been busy and I'm TIRED!!!

So many different things you are all doing and I hate to hear so many have health issues. My husband has a cold and also went to the chiropractor today. Youngest daughter has a bad cough and went to the doctor and got antibiotics and other medications. Also today was little granddaughter's birthday. Alyssa is now 3. We had supper here and she opened some presents. She plans to have a big birthday party soon. She helped me make biscuits this evening. She had so much fun measuring and helping. She was so happy when she went home a bit ago. We have really bad weather to move in over the weekend. The birthday party may have to be postponed. I have enjoyed reading all everyone has been doing.

This week, got over a bug I had late last week and over the weekend. I think I had a mild case of the flu...got my shot as usual in the Fall.

Worked yesterday, nice, wonderful day. Was actually looking forward to going in today. Thought I'd get my same patients' back..oh no! Got pulled to another unit. Everytime one of us is pulled we get the worst group out of the bunch. I got 3 tube feeders. Crush all those meds and put them through their tube. I was so behind all day long...made myself take my lunch break but got no other breaks. I'm so over this crap. I told my manager who I didn't think did much about it...but then when they gave night shift their assignments, it was broken up between two nurses.

Off the next three days. Alex turns 22 tomorrow but he has to work so I'm making him dinner or lunch on Sunday. I was also planning to start laying my laminate floor but after today I'm not sure I'll feel up to it tomorrow.

Mine didn't start out to good. Sunday my jaw started swelling up, so I started on amoxicillin for infection and next week I will go to the dentist for a root canal I am sure. Monday night I decided to see if I could get some dental insurance. I found one that cost me 95 dollars. I did find out that my application for health insurance was accepted. So I will go to the doctor next week too. Too bad it has to be 478 dollars a month for just me. I have had a headache for the last 2 days. I will be going to my chiropractor tomorrow morning too. Sorry I have complained too much or is it whined.

Today Kellan took his drivers test and then got his Drivers License..first drive with "no naggers" lol (his words) was to pick up Kamren from his school (girl's Basketball game) and get them some drive-thru dinner.

Everyone arrived home safe. :)

My brother and Nephew are coming to town tomorrow for a day or two. My oldest and his girl will be "home" Saturday, he's been with her family the past two weeks. Not sure if he's returning with her or staying here for a bit.

Two beautiful sunny days after 3 straight of snow, then rain.

It's been a good week here.

Hi Froggy2bug, Terri is kept really busy. She drives Bill to dialysis 3 times a week. They go to Kokomo and then she spends the day at Mandy's helping with the baby. I don't get to see her much since she is so busy, but we talk on the phone a few times a day. When the weather is decent we get together but it has been nasty here for some weeks.

I have nothing...NOTHING!...to complain about, especially after reading some of the troubles posted in this thread. Hope you can all just keep on keeping on.

The carpet cleaner just left after refreshing two large area rugs at the condo. This afternoon a vendor is coming to bid on refacing the upper and lower cabinets in our kitchen here and the lower cabinets in the two bathrooms. I need to get our twin airbed to another condo owner before we depart for the Frozen North of Chicagoland Monday.

Nine years ago we were at the airport here when DS called to say our grandson (first grandchild) had arrived. The whole thing was repeated three years ago (second baby). We only got home for "the good part", meeting the babies before they were 24 hours old. I'm so happy the family is planning to come out here for Christmas 2014!

Not much to report - more of the "same old - same old".

Planned with son and partner, who have attended pizza and movie night at church a couple of times, to help to provide the salad and fixings to go along with the pizza next Saturday night, as another guy had asked me whether I'd help, but neither of us are familiar with the nuances of salad-making, and he said that he'd ask a lady who's *very* involved with church to help, and I thought it not too great to add to her burden.

Since that ... the guy didn't show at a meeting at church this morning, as his father'd just died, so he's gone to deal with that.

Otherwise, have been helping to dismantle and move a friend's goods from his apt., much of it to my place (basement and shed, mostly) ...

... as he's dealing with an outdated legal issue in another province, and may be out of commission for a while, as in "indeterminate period".

Through the snow and wind to the library and other errands ...

... and watching the short-haired dog that I'm looking after for said friend, as she goes out to pee, etc. ...

... teeth chattering as she goes ... or is that "goes"?

She likes to go into the shed where the car is parked to bark at the cat. Which cat is "hosting" a companion in recent days ... that heads for the rafters when the dog appears. Could spring be coming, do ya figger (the resident cat is a female)?

As I've been reading of the concerns and triblations of many of the posters here ... am very thankful that my good health is continuing, thus far unabated.

Ran out of (diuretic) pills the other day - pharmacy is faxing the doc to get a refill, gave me a 30 day supply - drug benefit pays something over half of the approx. $10.00 fee.

As an aside ... fleece-lined gloves have been resident in my overcoat pocket for a couple of weeks. Plus ... renewed the duct tape on one of my overshoes, as the earlier application was getting quite bedraggled.

We are getting ready for another long RV trip and this coming week is the first serious week of packing the RV and make ready. Our RV is back axle heavy so we have to arrange to move some of the heavy stuff from the back storage bays to the front bays. We have a long trip planned so it will balance out the weight and make for a smoother ride or so we are told.....Other than that we will take care of all the little details that a trip involves...some food shopping, a hair cut etc etc.

For the most part it is just two old people tryng to survive another day in this great life and enjoying it all to the max..

I just got back from going with Amber, Alyssa and Cheryl to get more baby chicks for Alyssa, so now they have 12 new ones, different breeds, the ones the other day are all the same breed and lay blue or green eggs when grown and today's variety are to lay different shades of brown. I told Alyssa when the weather is warm I am coming over and sit in a lawn chair and watch her chickens. She peeked inside the boxes and said, "They are smiling at me." I have a summer outfit pinned to some fabric and I want to get that cut out so I can sew on it. It will be for Alyssa. Waiting for the snow to move in. Right now though it is 43 out and overcast. We left home on Feb. 14 headed to Weatherford, TX where the wood floors got completed in the motor home. Then we moved to McKinney, TX where we have been for a week getting new shades for all the windows. That is to be completed by Tuesday.

Then we will be off to Florida to have all the windows removed and have them defogged. That occurs when the gasket leaks on the dual pane windows. That should take a week or so. Then we will go to visit my mom. Haven't seen her in almost a year.

Kath, your job is so often hard and seems like you are overworked. There should be better scheduling to share the work load. I always enjoy hearing about your work and the kids growing up.

Alex is 22? I can't believe it has been that long since you started posting here, and he and Lauren were just youngsters! Is Alex happy with his job? And what is Lauren doing now? I bet you are glad you didn't take in another exchange student.

Enjoy your time off and Alex's birthday now and don't worry about that floor!
