For those who have smelled these...... what do they smell like?
Comments (8)Flower: I forgot to mention the sweet Olive.... it is the best I just love it, I go out on my patio and front porch and have to smell it every time.. it is the most beautiful sweet scent of apricots, I have 4 that are blooming right now and it's so different from any other plant I ever smelled, I ordered a synthetic oil on ebay and put it all over my house on flat cotton wipes, I even put it in the vents of my heater, it is really nice. I have 4 michelia figos that all have buds on them, they smell like very sweet ripe bananas. I also love the smell of honeysuckle, I bought a couple six packs of ground cover honeysuckle and planted them in hanging pots near my patio door, I think it will be a wonderful waft when they all come into bloom. I can hardly wait to smell them, this is my first season with all my fragrant plants. If your just getting started on fragrant plants be careful it's very very addicting but fun!!!! My other most favorite is brugmansia (Angel Trumpet), they are absolutely THE BEST! The differnt colors vary in fragrance, some smell a strong honey vanilla, others smell like a sweet lemony citrus, and another smells like a white flower scent like jasmine with the honey also. They are wonderful only smell at night, I have about 7 now and growing more, the ones by my front door smell my whole living room up when the door is open on a warm evening. So..... enjoy!!!!!! P.S. brugmansia's are very easy to root from a cutting....just stick it in water for a few weeks and stick it in the ground, they grow like weeds....See MoreWhat causes this smell?
Comments (79)Have had the same smell like the above letters, but it was off and on. Except for this summer, and it stayed on! I live in a condo and they sent a repairman who noticed, like me, that it was on and off. We took off a switchplate cover which backs up to the outside wall on my front entry, and the smell hit us full strength. The repairman took off the stucco board, the blue foam insulation and the pink insulation. On the wallboard, the paper backing of the insulation had left oily residue and that is what was smelling. The problem is, we can still smell it even after removing the above. The repairman thinks it is off gassing of the insulation. He's probably right but now what? Right now, I told him not to repair it right away as maybe some of it will air out. I can still smell it, but fainter. At some point he will have to complete the repairs and we're both worried that I will still have that smell. Wallboard is porous so maybe it got into that , but I can't start tearing apart walls! And why now after living here for 9 years?...See MoreWhat laundry detergent smells the worst in your opinion?
Comments (85)Yes, Cal Ben Seafoam, that's what she uses. I believe it contains some optical brighteners. Her littlest one is allergic to everything else. She can worry about the state of her monster front loader. I don't want my Miele gunked up so I am very careful. But mine also has a 2 hour maintenance cycle run on an empty washer with 165F water. The glass door is too hot to touch. Usually, the rinse water is completely clear at the end of the maintenance cycle. If not, I run it again. I haven't switched as I think my Persil perls does a better job than anything else I've tried. When I washed lingerie at her house some turned gray. I wasn't so impressed but she insists that the soap is best, with fewest "bad" ingredients. I have the German Persil because a box lasts more than a year for me given the soft water and small amounts. I know Germany is very strict about home products and Germans are most demanding of quality. The more of those I try, the more I like them. I also use their floor wax and I'm switching to Pril for my dishes as it works better than anything else I've tried. It's used all over the world except for the US. I know my laundry practices are OK because I saw the tech take the previous washer apart when the heater failed. I asked him specifically if there was any gunk after 2 years of use. He said no, it was pristine. I do use fabric softener for towel loads but I dilute it. Vernel does not get gunky but doesn't smell very good. Mrs. Meyers gets a bit gunky so I dilute by half and give it a vinegar chaser. They both seem to soften towels a bit -- one doesn't seem any better than the other. Towels seems to stay softer washed on warm vs the 140F hot I was using. Oh, I remember Ivory and Lux flakes. Didn't they call that Ivory Snow? They were so slippery and soapy. No idea why they are not still made....See MoreCan someone tell me what this is? Smells Heavenly!
Comments (5)how do you tell the difference between Viburnum carlesii and V. burkwoodi on a pic like this ... one thing for sure.. its a fragrant viburnum ... and it is sublime ... for a week or so in spring ... and then an otherwise plain old green shrub ... but well worth having in the garden for that week ... if you have the space ... ken...See Morekrycek1984
