Is it wrong that I want an air gun to kill the black birds?
Comments (34)We had a bad problem downtown, but the city did something about it. Before that, I had 3 hanging around, always kind of spooked me out, but I wanted to get along with them, started feeding them along with the carnivore woodpeckers, dry cat food and meat scraps cut up and no bones to drop on a roof. That went on awhile, watched one eat a piece of apple one day, interesting birds. But then a sick one showed up on my front porch at the water dish I set out, and I found 2 dead in the gutter a half block down, laid there for 2 or more weeks weeks, ick. We have a problem with West Nile, they had already done their sampling, confirmed its presence in the area, so wouldn't come pick them up. I thought they were a health hazard and if it had been in front of my house, would have disposed of them. So West Nile took its toll on them, now we have a fair amount of owls, that may help keep them away. Haven't been bothered by them for a couple years now, same with the larger brown woodpeckers, large flock of them. So nature has its ways, but you don't want West Nile in your area if you don't have it already. People in the two-state area have died from it (mosquitoes the carrier), usually elderly or with compromised immune systems....See MoreDrawers with double handles? Placement?
Comments (13)(I should have posted the following in this, more recent thread instead of the 2008 thread!) Two Pulls vs One Pull...It's been almost 6 years and even though I frequently use just one pull to open a drawer, I have only had to adjust a couple of drawers once or twice - and all I did was release the glides, push the drawer back in completely, and I was done (Blumotion glides). The majority of the drawers have had no issues at all in 6 years. The ones I've adjusted: the top drawer under my cooktop (36" wide) and the middle drawer in my 33" cabinet (Tupperware storage) - no other drawers have needed adjustment in 5+ years. Even if they all eventually need adjustment, it's so rare that it's a non-issue and, to me, two pulls look much better in a traditional or transitional kitchen. I think one pull, though, would look better in a "modern" kitchen. Vertical Alignment...Keep in mind that trying to adjust for perspective is a somewhat futile effort. Perspective varies depending on how tall the observer is! Someone 6' tall will have a different perspective than someone 5' tall. You would need to have adjustable pulls to make them "look" centered for everyone. I would either center them or do what ChefKev did - that way they are consistent and look "right" regardless of who is observing the drawers and their pulls. That said, this is so TKO!!! Don't Panic! This decision is not "world-ending"! [Sorry, Zaphod42, I couldn't resist!] This post was edited by buehl on Wed, Jan 29, 14 at 23:20...See Moreplacement of handle on trash pullout
Comments (14)Thanks for all of the responses. It sounds like everyone thinks it should be centered on the upper stile. I definitely think it would be more functional that way. I'm trying to get used to how it would look. Through the magic of PhotoShop I've created a preview. Does this really look OK?...See MoreI want this faucet -- is that wrong?
Comments (19)I have one of those breast fixtures. Or the "boob light" as it was called. I moved it to the mudroom. All you gardeners, have you had this growing in your mulch? I've had tons of them. They appear overnight and are of various colors, lengths, and er, um well, girths. If you did them up, at their base are white eggs which look like their... you know. The things most women have more of then men? d (Oh, that name is the variety, too.)...See Moreinspiredisabel
