To Bisque or not to Bisque...
Comments (13)chewtoy, I'm in the midst of my mini redo and am keeping my bisque fridge and dishwasher. DW is stainless on the INSIDE. I will replace my stove with bisque also. I actually like the color better than any other. To me, stainless is too industrial. 12 plus years ago when I bought my fridge and 2 years ago when I bought my dw, the salespeople both told me that I wouldn't be able to find bisque for very long. While shopping for stoves this year, they are saying the same thing. So, I'm not worrying about it. I really think it's a classic color and since it's seemingly not so popular, we will have something a little different in our kitchens than most people. Comments (134)I always use an extender with Aura. It gives you more time before drying. If you're painting a bathroom, research "surfactant leaching." This happens when the paint in a bathroom isn't fully cured, and you use the shower. Google photos of surfactant leaching. Most paint stores will say latex cures in a few days, but I had this problem in two homes and did extensive research. You get ugly drips down the walls, and they are yellow or brown. You can wash it off, but it comes back. Now, when I paint a bathroom, I wait 30 days before using the shower. That may be overkill, and if you only have one shower, that would not be possible....See Moreis your shaw's sink white or bisque?
Comments (3)I love my white sink. I originally bought a bisque sink floor sample but it didn't match the white porcelain handles on my faucet. Here's a pic (old one; new pix next weekend) White is a neutral color and the color that we expect to see for sinks, so it's unobtrusive. It's easier to match white than shades of bisque/cream/ivory/etc, which helped me on backsplash tiles. OTOH, if your kitchen is all shades of brown, maybe the white might stand out in a not-so-good way. What colors do you have?...See MoreDurable Sinks - White vs. Dark, Undermount vs. Drop in
Comments (10)Hi Joseph....I was hoping you'd respond! :). I'm an avid fan of yours (blush). We prefer an undermount sink because it's easier to wipe counters off onto the sink and as well because the emphasis will be on the countertop (Cristallo quartzite with gold and copper veining). The only reason we are considering a top mount (which we have now) is because it's easier to replace the sink (hubby might be able to do himself), should it need to be replaced in the future. I'm a bit of an OCD when it comes to the house/kitchen looking pristine all the time (and I both cook and bake A LOT). We are having a difficult time deciding on what sink (Brand, etc.) and color to get. White is out of the question as it's too intrusive next to our stone. Hubby wants a copper (my original idea), but two factors for us to consider is: We have hard water, and heard that may spot the sink, and also PRICE. Paying 2-3K for a sink is out of the question (financially) for us. We are stomped! Our kitchen cabinets are honey maple, our island (in works right now) will be a creamy white color, and then we have the Cristallo quartzite....See Moreconcretenprimroses
