Delicatus - to splurge or not to splurge, that is the question
Comments (42)I'm just reading this post a couple months later, but I am so glad you got your Delicatus! Is it in yet? Would love to see pictures because we are right where you were in January.... I keep being "drawn" to Delicatus (which is only one of the many names it seems to be called!) and I think DH is now agrees that it is so much nicer than the Level 1 stones everyone else has. We will have white cabinets, and I like the way Delicatus looks with them. We haven't found the right stone (or price!) yet, but at this point, I'm more than ready to go over-budget to get a countertop I can be excited about (as opposed to spending less for a granite I'm "ho-hum" about.) Sure hope you are happy with your decision and look forward to seeing your photos when yours is in!...See MorePicked the granite. Need a vision for backsplash.
Comments (15)Just found this thread (delicatus search). I just bought Delicatus Brown this past week. Busy granite!!! So, for my backsplash, I'm *hoping* to use Jeffrey Court Chapter 12 in French Creama (an off whitish/beigy color). I'm thinking of the 6x6's on a diagnol; and behind my sink area having an outline of box with an arched top and filled in with matching 1x1 glass tiles. Around this arched box (again, in the area above the sink) instead of the 6x6's, I want to use the 2x3 subway tiles in a brick pattern. So it will be done all in tone-on-tone but with the tile being the pattern, instead of different colors or borders. Anyway, I am going to wait too until I get the granite installed before purchasing the tile. If your kitchen backsplash is done, hoping you'll post pics. jody...See MoreWhite Fantasy Quartzite vs Yellow Juparana Delicatus Granite
Comments (24)Hi Tuoihong- Glad you went with WF. Just read the thread and was thinking from early in the thread that WF was where your heart was. IMHO, SLab #1 is a little quieter, whereas #2 is a bit splotchy, chaotic. They're both gorgeous, but if I had to pick, it would be #1, which already has plenty of movement and visual interest but provides a calmer, more uniform look. Imagine you're making the decision by flipping a coin. Slab #1 is heads, #2 tails. While it's up in the air, about to fall, are you in your heart of hearts hoping for heads or tails? An idea similar to Beekeeper's Wife's, it helps clear away the noise and show you where your heart is....See MoreOh no! Granite is not what we thought...
Comments (89)Miruca, thank you so much for the update. I am so glad your daughter is in love with her beautiful kitchen. My first love was the dark beautiful cabinets she has and that same granite! But I do not have much natural light in my kitchen so I decided to go with off-white cabinets. If I ever had a big kitchen with lots of windows, I would want what your daughter has. I love the 2" backspash and I am thinking that is the way to go. In person the wall color may look beautiful as the monitor changes the color of walls. bocakitty, both granites are beautiful. Forget the names of each and decide which goes best with your cabinets and floors and which you like best....See Morenosoccermom
