Back home from the hosp.

Hubs had surgery on Wednesday for on a very large (over 8 cent.) abdominal aneurysm (A.A.) everything went well and the horrible pain he had been having in his back is gone. The Vascular surgeon said it was very likely it was the A.A causing the pain, and could have burst within a year. We did find out Hubs can't take any narcotic meds. He became very combative after surgery and was "going to take on every one in the room!" LOL I'm thinking I'll be calling him Tiger from now on.

I'm glad it went well and that he's already having positive results. I pray that he continues to improve. Keep us posted.

that's awful. (& did I miss the target or what?) & it can happen to any woman. Those hormones, that drive, is so powerful that it can take over a woman's life & mess up her judgment & her perceptions. My friend Amy was talking about this the other day. Amy is very proper, level-headed, solid as a rock, keeps a squeaky-clean house, works, takes care of the family, teaches Sunday school... On the surface, it sounds like she couldn't be more different from this woman. but. Amy's children are all adopted. She told me that the drive to have a family, to have a baby, was so strong that it nearly became an obsession, *& that she could empathize/sympathize with this woman.* The good thing is that her husband & her large family (mother, father, brothers, sisters, siblings-in-law) supported & helped her. & she found motherhood to be very fulfilling, & her husband, a lovely man, is just as happy with family life as she is.

Mr Van Ert gets his orders out asap so you should have it soon. I would for sure get another box to entice the HOSP with and get that trap in as soon as you get it. Otherwise get a good bb gun, I actually get more with bb guns than I do the van ert but I LOVE the van erts! Make sure you tape a leaf over the orange dot on the van ert, HOSP are kinda leary of that orange dot but once a leaf is there they have no problem with it. Good luck! Donna

We always combine multiple reasons to make any long distance shopping trip and when you live here everything is a long distance except for Walmart of course. There's one in just about every town. Hubby must go to Harbor Freight on a regular basis or he starts having withdrawal symptoms. I stock up on livestock items at Rural King. My problem now is I am really, really regretting not buying more of the roses they had and I just cannot justify another shopping trip so soon! If we get nice weather, by the time I could get back they will be all gone and there are some really great ones still there!

Wow that's some side-effect he has. Good thing he got the meds in the hospital and not at home, and took it out on you Dottie.

Glad to hear things are better now, and he'll be feeling a lot better.

Dottie, sure hope you get that first floor apartment soon. It sure would help you and you DH a lot. Give him a big (((DH)) from us. He's had a lot happening lately. And one ((Dotmom)) for you for making it though it.

Harry can't take any pain killers with coedine. They make him violently ill. The only time I've seen him upchuck, for lack of a better word, was when they gave him a med with coedine, even though they assured me there wasn't any in them.

Glad to hear you found the problem and fixed it. We had a friend who had surgery and he had a reaction to the morphene. They found him out in the parking lot, IV tubes dragging, in his hospital gown going to go home!

Thanks gang (what would I do without my KT family?) Actually he is doing very, very well, he doesn't really have any pain, and just a little soreness at the small incision site.
Patti43, it looks promising for a downstairs Apt. one should be ready to move in by May. It will be a one bedroom and we have two, but we can live with that to get away from the stairs. Have a good weekend, friends.

Actually Tiger and I came home on Friday. We took a van service down to MPLS, abt 125 miles, one way, on Tuesday. Talk about prices raising, when I used the same van service a couple years ago, it was abt $130 round trip, but this time it is $514. But believe me, it is still well worth the price. The driver knows our medical schedule, gets a wheel chair for Hubs, takes us to where we have to check in, when that is done, takes us to the next appointment. This is a HUGE medical complex and if I had been in charge of getting Hubs to his Drs, we probably would still be wandering around. also, when I went down, I could stay at a lodging place connected to the hospital, that was $25 a night, that is gone and is replaced with a Sheridan hotel, and I stayed there for the first night on this trip......REAL nice!!! but also $121 a night. The other two nights I stayed at our Daughters place, where the accommodations were every bit as nice, plus I was treated by having a couple of her kitties visit me during the night. I am amazed at how little pain there is after this type of surgery....and thankful, for Hubs. He will have to have a follow up CT scan in 3 months to see how things are working. Again, thanks Kiddos for the nice words.

Haven't been around a lot lately so just catching up. Glad to hear things went well. Was it medication or the anesthesia that caused the reaction? When I had the surgery (way back when) I reacted to the anesthesia. From what they said I took out a couple of the orderlys and they wound up just pushing me by a wall and nobody came near me until I was fully awake. I didn't remember anything about it. Had to have the surgery redone a few days later and they said "we're definitely changing the anesthesia for this one!

It'll be nice for you to get a ground floor apartment.... but... Buster isn't losing *his* bedroom now is he?? :)

Wow that was very lucky that it was found and that the surgery went well. Hope he heals quickly.

My Mom, who is 89, just had to have emergency surgery, she has never taken much in the way of meds other than her blood pressure medication, and an aspirin. She too was very combative and fighting with everyone, they were not sure if it was from the pain meds or the anesthesia but man I sure hope she never has to go through that again, luckily she does not remember any of it.
