How do I replace my Lazy Susan

The bottom shelf of my lazy susan is cracked and I would like to replace it. It seems simple enough but I'm not sure how I can get the shelf in and out of the corner spot. Any suggestions?

This is one reason I really dislike lazy susans....especially the ones that revolve on a center pole. These have been the thorn in the side of KD's worldwide for many years. The hardware changes over the years and it's not an easy task to replace for the average homeowner. I tried to help one of my best friends replace hers. I was doing her a favor, ended up buy two replacements that wouldn't work for her 20 year old cabinets and I was out the $. My business partner eventually was able to fix it. I know she was frustrated but not even a thank you from her, she just complained that the kitchen business needs to have more service in fixing things when they break. Even though there might be some truth in that....what you need is a good carpenter or someone good with tools and a lot of patience.

First off, try to find out who the maker of your cabinets are. If you can find out....call them or dealer who has them to get help.

Here are a few online guides on how to replace. It also depends to: Is it a regular pole type lazy susan? A super susan? What is the diameter of the trays? Do your trays spin on a shelf? Or Are the trays secured to the revolving door? Or do the trays spin without the door? While I've never fixed one (I am NOT qualified to do that!), here are a few online instructions I found:

Ps. Do you know where your cabinets came from? If you do, see if they will help you. With parts and labor, a fix could cost $130 to $400 depending on the parts and time involved. If you don't know, then contact a local kitchen dealership to see if they will help you. Some will, some won't. If they won't, then a cabinet installer is your next best bet. Maybe Lowes could give you a list. Don't be surprised if people want to blow you off. There's no money to be made in this and a huge PITA factor. Unless you do all the legwork and finding out what will work best with your cabinets.

In my old kitchen, I had a "lazy susan" (the one w/the center pole). I stored all my pots & pans, colanders, and several serving pieces in it. I had no difficulty getting anything out of it. Just turn the susan and what you need is right there in front of you. Ours had the door attached to the shelves so they rotated inside. It was a "standard" 36" susan...that means it took up 36" on each wall. The "back" wall of our susan conformed to the shape of the shelves and had just enough room for the shelves to clear (1/8", maybe). There was no way anything was going to fall off of it on the inside! BTW...a "super susan" does not have the center pole. I really wanted another one in my new kitchen...this time to hold all my small appliances. However, I made the mistake of suggesting to my DH that we create a "Pet Center" in the corner instead and immediately lost the susan! I now store my small appliances in my small pantry. While they all fit, they do take up almost 2 shelves...I really wish I had that susan!

ShaggyDogs - can you do a 36"x33" corner susan? It will give you a bigger opening - that's the biggest limiting factor in a 33"x33" corner susan. Corner susans can be very useful. They're great for pot & pan storage - especially if you don't have drawers for them. They're also great for small appliances. Everything is always in front. You just rotate the shelf/shelves until the item you want is in front - then easily lift it out! I loved the one in our old Kitchen. We stored all our pots & pans, colanders, and large serving pieces in one 36"x36" corner susan - it was a lazy susan (pole down the center) with the doors attached to the shelves so they rotated into the cabinet when it was open. Blind corner cabinets are useless without swing outs or roll out tray shelves (ROTS) You can't store anything in front of the ROTS b/c it needs to be clear in front of them to pull them out. Swing outs can be problematical - especially if something falls off the shelves in the interior - you have to send a small child inside to retrieve the item and you cannot close it until it's retrieved! My KD demonstrated a couple of different models for us - she said most people come back complaining about the swing outs so she moves heaven and earth to not use a blind corner! My MIL has upper and base blind corners (no ROTS or swing out) and she says they're a waste b/c it's too difficult to get into them - she doesn't store anything in the "blind" areas. You may be better off voiding out the corner if the opening is too small to be useful on a 33"x33"....or consider corner drawers, but they will probably be very expensive.

Did you ever get an answer to this question? I have the same problem! I have searched high and low for this part with no luck. Even getting a replacement carousel is difficult with the design of this one. Any google of Hetal does not show up anything useful as suggested in previous posts. There is npt much plastic left to drill and tap new screws into new holes....

I take it the lazy susan pole was previously attached to plywood under your previous countertops? A board or piece of plywood should be installed to replace the plywood removed. If the work has already been done, I'd figure out a way to fit a board in place, maybe using cleats attached to side of cabinet to hold it up. Is the quartz installed directly on the cabinets or is there a sub-frame attached, then the quartz on top?
