1. Yes, it is trendy - but that doesn't mean it isn't a good color. There is not a color in the world that isn't trendy at some point and out at others. Avocado is back, by the way, LOL!

2. Yes, I think it would work with a taupe and the dark wood. Taupe is usually on the cool side.

3. Why would your sister-in-law be in your master bathroom?

Silver sage reads very blue in my home...I dont think blue will ever go "out" in a bathroom. To me blue tones in a bathroom is almost classic. Its that nice spa like feeling. I used the RH atmosphere blue in my bath and it has a wonderful refreshing and relaxing feeling. I used silver sage in my dining kitchen area because it is a bit warmer than blue and it adjoins with my warm toned living room and looks really nice.

Absolutely...do it! For all of the reasons mentioned above, and because if you decide the trend is over in five years, you can simply repaint. In the meantime, be happy!

One other thing... don't discount the importance of being able to find rugs and towels that match. I put green tile in my bathroom a few years ago and searched for eons for towels, etc. to coordinate. That green did not exist in towel-world. It wasn't until I painted the walls a pale "spa blue" that I was able to find things to coordinate. I had to replace the rugs recently, for staging my house, and I can tell you that color is still very much out there and available.

Silver Sage is one of those colors that is not trendy. RH has had it for so many years on their store walls and I don't think anyone gets tired of the color of their stores. I know I don't.

I am seeing more towels and rugs and sheets (check macy's)that are pretty close in color and would work wonderfully.
Brown, gray, black, and white are colors that would coordinate beautifully.

Go for it. It will make you happy.

Glad to hear your up and about decorating again!! Chuckling because if you remember my husband is your husband's twin and your post about the end tables could not have been more timely, you really helped me through my "Gel Stain Kitchen" I posted this week! :) Finally I was not alone.

Any way back to the bath- would silver sage accessories go with your MBED paint color? Just thinking that if you want to change down the road, you're only changing accessories and not adding extra work BUT you must do what you love, and repainting in "our" world is not that big of job, no matter what the DH's say.

I've been reading on this board and many others about Silver Sage..........for several years. It seems to be a timeless and extremely popular choice. Every color is ultimately trendy. Things go around in popularity all the time. I would do a test quart of the color first in any event. That way, you can determine for yourself if you like it in proximity to the taupe you have.
As for your SIL..........you can tell her you loved it in the RH store and remembered that you loved it in her home too. That takes care of the compliment stage, and should also remind her, (if she's inclined to gloat) that the STORE promotes it in a big way.

I love Silver Sage and have it in my current bath aka large closet (lol) and I plan on putting it in my office at the new house, I think.

In this current bath I didn't go out and buy new vath linens to match the SS and used what I had which were some yellows and some light blues. Both look great with the SS along with red.

As far as I'm concerned SS will always be popular because it's a beautiful color and who can argue with beautiful?

I think Silver Sage is a beautiful color and very appropriate for a bath.

As to whether it is warm enough to go with your master bedroom. Well, does it have to be? This is something I struggled with when doing our bedroom.

Our MBR is SW Kilim Beige; it looks warm and inviting and soothing in there. In the bathroom it looked like an industrial file cabinet...totally nasty. The difference was the lighting; the bedroom has a western exposure and the bath only northern.

So we decided to go with what the natural light demanded and paint the bathroom a nice gray blue (SW Aleutian). We LOVE it. The two colors go together the way a denim shirt goes with khaki pants. (I wouldn't describe these paints as denim and khaki...that's just how the color coordination strikes me.)

What is your bedroom color?

Oops, I just looked back and saw that you said your bedroom is Stonington Gray. Is that the BM Historical color by that name? If it is, and if it's showing up accurately online I think that would go really well with Silver Sage.

I'm not sure what brand Stonington Gray is - typically when I pick a paint color I collect hundreds of chips of all different brands and then choose the one I like, and have it custom-color mixed into a Behr can by Home Depot (unless it's a Behr color). Very often they have the color in their computer, even if it's not their brand. But Stonington Gray isn't exactly a common name, so it very well could be the one you are referring to. It's not too dark, not too light - just right. I also have it in my scrapbooking room (I don't have a picture of the bedroom). (I'm trying to upload it onto Tinypic but it's not working right now)

You're right my SIL probably would not be in my bathroom, maybe, but I know she'd be quirked about it. Several years ago we put new doorknobs throughout the house - satin-nickel football-shaped ones. 2 years ago when they were building their house they did not put those doorknobs in (which is what the builder offered) simply because we had them. I didn't care, but she did. (Did I mention they live 3000 miles away?)

never ending - *I* never have stopped, but as you know he did... after I ruined the tables (first I tried stain, then paint...I just suck at it), he (HE!) suggested we go buy new ones. So we did. Then he wouldn't commit to painting the cabinets, so I went and hired a refacing company. I ordered a new mirror frame, and he did agree to paint. He says. We shall see. If I hired out I'd have to take a day off work, and I can't exactly do that. I'm going to have to take 2 days off for the cabinets as it is. But something strange happened the other night. He hung a ceiling fan for me. He did complain (to be expected - says that he JUST put that fan in there - 9 years ago), but I said nothing, and he turned and got his tools. My son was even surprised...
