anyone else getting cabin fever?

I feel like I have it pretty bad. To top it off, my back hurts, either from all the shoveling I did yesterday, or I slept funny?

I would like to get out of the house!!!!!!!!!

I got out today... first time since last Sunday. Ahhh.. it felt good even if it was just to the bank and Walmart.

Hope you're able to get out soon Moni!

I went to Tucson last week for my Nana's and my joint birthday (I was born on her 40th--don't ask how old we are now). Since then I've been scrambling to catch up at work. I finally started my rock last night but ran out of daylight. I need to illuminate the mudpit...we're having an early Spring but it's still getting dark at 6:30 p.m. I hope to be able to finish tonight and then paint it after a few days cure time. who knew... 40 odd years of garden in a snow zone... who ever thought to go to a garden/arb or tree farm in the middle of winter.. NOT ME.. until i took a grafting class at gee tree ... and gary gave a two hour tour of his arb in mid-january ... i think single digits plus wind ... if you live within 3 hours of SE MI ... make a day of going to hidden lakes in tipton MI .. and gee tree in Stockbridge MI ... in winter.. again ... go figure on that ... listen fireboy .. dont bankrupt yourself 'needing to buy' everything you see .... be careful with that ... the mugo ... would be carsten's .... or the other name ... i cant ID your pic.. but a proper spelling helps research if necessary ... short of asking bob ... the picea pungens lutea ... is probably not much different that the P. p. Yesterday was our 14th day in a row of 100-degrees F or higher, and it topped out at 110-degrees F yesterday. Thankfully we'll have highs in the low 90's this week, and a much needed break from the extreme heat.... But the humidity will be higher and I always think that is worse at any temperature than dry heat. I get up at 3:30 a.m. each morning so I can get everything I need done before 9:00 a.m. when the heat really sets in. The gardening is done by 7:00 or 8:00. I love being at home, so cabin fever or getting bored doesn't fit my personality. I've been spending the hot afternoons making Wonder Ovens (aka Wonder Box - a form of thermal cooking) for Christmas (see link below). Your recipe for homemade mayonnaise made me think of my mother. I don't think my parents bought a jar of mayonnaise until I was a teen in the late 60's - it was always homemade. If you ever are concerned with using raw eggs, you can pasteurize it/them first by bringing the egg/s to 140-degrees F in a pan of hot water, and maintain the temperature for 3-1/2 minutes. Place in cold water to stop the cooking process. It's enough heat to pasteurize the egg, but not enough to completely cook it so you can still use it "raw". Lots of raw whole foods these days (but that's normal all year round) - especially with the garden producing. Cooling fruit or homemade fruit sorbet for dessert. Lots of homemade sprouts to use in wraps and on sandwiches now that it's gotten too hot to grow fresh greens. I also have a lot of pre-cooked meat, soup and chili in the freezer in user-friendly amounts we use when it's hot (cook once, eat twice - or more). Frozen seasoned steak strips or chicken for hearty dinner salads or a head start on a stir-fry, or quick Mexican entrees. Pulled pork has all kinds of uses.... I portion it in snack-bags and then vacuum-seal it in a FoodSaver bag. Add some bbq sauce and a homemade burger bun from the freezer and top it with shredded cabbage (also from the garden). I baked some new (homegrown) potatoes in the Solar Oven the other day, reheated some chili (formerly frozen) in the Solar Oven as well, to top the baked potatoes for a quick meal along with sliced fresh vegetables from the garden. I'm painting a lot and doing either late fall housecleaning or early spring housecleaning. I don't care if the snow leaves or it warms up here in IN until I am all finished. I'd like to find a little time to do some wintersowing later this week, as well as some baking. I have been out 3 times this week, so no cabin fever for me. Of course it does not bother me at all to have to stay home in the house as I have so much to do besides house work! Hope you feel better soon Moni!

We get out pretty good here even with the snow, ice and compacted ice/snow roads. If we didn't we would be in big trouble. Crews keep the main roads open really good.

I have been out everyday so no cabin fever for me I too can totally stay home all the time!! And since I lovelovelove this weather I am happy! Stacy

Yep, it hit me yesterday. I haven't been out since last Saturday. This is rare for me.. All the kids are taking us out for supper tomorrow evening for my birthday. I can't wait.. Sure hope all of this ends soon..

Come on down to Florida - we never get cabin fever! I actually saw some tourists in bikinis and IN the ocean yesterday - the water is 55 degrees and the wind is 20 m.p.h. - they had to be nuts!

Stayed in today. Been out and about the rest of the time, cause we didn't get snow. But the weather today was not nice.

IT HAS BEEN A LONG LONG DAY ALL BY MY LONESOME!

I try and get out at least every other day. And we didn't get any snow or ice. BUT we may be in for it tonight and tomorrow.

I went to the big city(not) 20 miles away to get my medicine and some other things I needed that I can't get here, today. So I'm good to go for a while now.

We called the neighbors and all went out to eat tonight. This is the first time I've ridden in a car since Monday night. We've had about 24" of snow in the last few days. I'm starting to feel a bit ornery.

Cabin Fever has been hitting ND since January and it stinks!
We don't have much choice but to go do the things we have to do. Won't go out in a full fledged blizzard, but the cold and horrible roads don't stop many of us.

That said, I am SO very sick of winter!!!! Still have two months minimum of it.

I am hoping for a nice April.

I have been going out every day for just a short time. Going to the store is such a treat in this weather. Tonight I slipped on some ice on my driveway and landed on my butt. My back really hurts but I just took a vicodin and am going to bed.

I don't have cabin fever yet, but I have been outside each of the last 3 days removing snow. I'm ready for spring, but around here, that is 3 months away - yeah - 3 months. We get 1 to 2 weeka of spring, and then early summer weather sets in. I do miss a nice spring. I do enjoy our summer and fall.

Yes I dread winter every year but get use to it we have all feb and most of march yet to worry about here last year we got like 20" of snow one week only to get the following week another 20"so dont get excited yet too early.
When we bought our farm we got a blizzard in march 93.looking out window today everythings covered in ice,Im not going out for anything I fell Wed leaving for dialysis,gonna break my neck yet accident a month ago,fell now geeze

I'm in Long Island, there's ice and snow everywhere. I try to get out in the car at least once a day, even if it's just to buy a card or get some groceries. I can't wait for spring!

Jannie, till today I don't think I would have been able to get through my intersection... and today I am waiting for the city to show up and turn the water back on.

Feel like I need to be here, in case there is another spot of leakage, and it will have to back off. Naw, I better not think about the latter part of my last sentence.

The sun is out so it feels warmer than it is. I walked almost a mile this morning, but had to come back home. I let dh wear my snow pants and he got something itchy on them. They are almost dry. I'm taking my little doggy for a walk.
