Well the one leather couch may look in good shape but it is not. :( it is really disgusting AND had huge rips in it. It was not high quality and was a bad 2 weeks before DS was born purchase. :( You all are making me go conservative :( I think that given the kids it is probably the right thing. I have to admit with 4 boys and DH there is just probably no hope for a floral sofa to survive as much as I want one. I will not be replacing the curtains, we like them. That rug ended up being to small when I measured so I did not even go see it. I found this on CL. I am thinking I might put it in my basement and then bring the brown couch I have down there up to the family room. I love that couch. DH says It is strange to do that to the au pair, but I don' t know. I think this is a nice set.... What do you all think of it?

I tried cordovan shoe polish on my red leather chair and it worked great! I figured if it didn't work then I could try the expensive option of leather restoration since that product will cover up anything and change the color if you want. The sun had faded the chair to dried out pink, but now it's back to it's original red. My husband thinks I'm a genius but I gave credit where credit is due - got the idea from happyladi on this forum where people are so helpful!!! For $2 the chair looks like new.

I think the white one may be worth it. The other looks like it needs reupholstering and has pressed cane (ask for pics of the *back* of the back). The white one may be woven cane (easy to fix if there is a hole). It also has more interesting arms. I would not put either one outside. I used to have one like that (with matching armchair that I was too poor to have springs redone). I couldn't sell them - antique dealer said they were 70's French Provincial even though I knew they were a good 50 yrs older than that knowing the lady (house) my parents bought them from. The wood was dyed, not stained. I ended up giving them to Salvation Army when DD was born and we needed to move (her current) antique bedroom set to the room where we had the caned set. The back of the couch was not comfy, and moved too much. It *was* pretty, though.

:) dee you crack me up. I should have written that better! I bought my current sofa set - a love seat and sofa - about 8 months ago. I was about 1-2 wks away from having my youngest DS at the time. Einstien Moomjy was going out of business and I HATED the CL sectional that we had been living with for about 8 months. I wanted to try a sectional before I bought a new one. Boy am I glad I did! We hated it. So then I bought the set we have now at the going out of business sale on the way home from an ultrasound. It is terrible! the cushions are too long for the seats and so they hang over and squish around. They have the attached back pillows which are ripping already. I only have the 4 boys. 2 SS's (21 and 16) and 2 DS (3.5 and 7 months) The boys, the cats, and DH are very hard on furniture. I don't expect a lot. I think the ones pictured above with the back like that might last longer. I did call the seller and she said they were restoration hardware and from around 2002. I have off the next couple of days so I think I will go see them. I am making my DR a play room so the only thing in my family room will be the two sofas and two end tables (and of course random toys that make their way in there. So I think I will have room for them. I will measure though :)
