Have you ever roasted frozen Cauliflower?

I have a bag in the freezer I need to use up.

I think I'd be more inclined to use it in a potato/cauliflower mash with a bit of parmesan cheese.

Frozen cauliflower doesn't take long to cook. Thinking it would not come out like fresh roasted, but wouldn't be a total fail if roast FAST & HOT!?! Maybe seasoned and tossed with some nice olive oil and then into a hot oven... 425-450?!?

Hi! I ran into the same problem, lots of jalapeÃÂ±os and no time. I halved them , removed the seeds and tossed them in a freezer bag. I just take out what I need, put them skin side up on a cookie sheet covered in foil. Place them under the broiler until the skins are roasted. It only takes a few minutes. The better they're roasted the easier they come off, but don't cook all the moisture out of them. Remove from oven and turn a glass bowl upside down over them. Pull the foil up around the edges of the bowl to seal in steam. Let them sit for about 5 or 10 minutes. The skins pretty much will slip off. They're yummy on just about everything!

Well, they are soft, but roasted peppers get soft anyway. I do find freezing offers the best consistency and flavor for preserved peppers. Canning is definitely harder on them. Carol

I roast broccoli all the time, cut up in pieces coat with some olive oil, sprinkle with dry crushed red pepper and add some roasted garlic pieces (a lot for me) or just sprinkle with garlic powder, roast at 375 until it just starts to brown, it is delicious, sometimes I do a mix of broccoli and cauliflower. I don't usually roast asparagus but I throw it on the grill a lot. I just trim, brush with some olive oil and grill until very tender, sprinkle with sea salt and it's ready to enjoy.

"Gary please tell me that is not your gravy drippings." hehehehehe Why, yes they are.... Is there a problem with that? (: As I said, that was a pic after the first phase of cooking the 7lb roast. It had just survived 21 minutes (7/side) being blasted on low broil. It now has a very thin crust and that was the drippings as a result. I am wondering if the next phase is going to prove/disprove the adage that this would "seal in the juices". Since this is a multi-cut roast, bound with string, I decided not to do a roast-from-frozen cook at low temperature. Rather, I placed the roast in the refrigerator to defrost. What was in that pan were basted back onto the roast. The internal temperature, after blasting it, was at 27d and after being in the refrigerator a few hours reached 38d. when my thermometer alerted me that it was ready for phase 2. It has been cooking at 200d since then. It is almost done. I will hold off divulging whether or not there is a pool of drippings.

The freezing process causes the veggies to lose a lot of moisture when it thaws.
if you thaw it and roast it it will be tough and dry...if you roast it frozen it will be watery.
Find something else to do with it.

It roasts just fine from frozen. Not slushy at all - at least the stuff I get isn't. Tastes the same as fresh. The heat evaporates all the water.

Ditto on what islay said...hot oven 425 srinkle grated cheese halfway through , drizzle olive oil. It is delicious.

I had not ever even 'heard' of grilling Collyflower,
(you English majors, get out your whips). I've GOT
to try it. But I'm athinkin that I would prolly
heat up some habanero Cheeze Whiz, and drizzle it
over the top, YUMMMMM. Yup, gotta do it, 'cause
collyflower is pleniful in the stores right now.
Thanks for the tip... (for those of you that might
not realize it, I like to spell things the way they
sound, and don't get me goin about 'Kansas' and
'Arkansas').
