need help finding the right fabric or curtain panel

I know that what I want must be out there, but I can't find it! In my new laundry room, I will have a recessed area with shelves that will hold laundry baskets for clean, folded clothes - one basket for each bedroom. Underneath the shelves will be a three-section laundry sorter. Rather than make this area into a closet with bi-fold doors or something, I want to hang a curtain there. I'm envisioning something kind of vintage-y/retro with large grommets rather than a rod pocket or tabs. I'm also thinking I'd like a bright raspberry color, with maybe some green and yellow going on somewhere. I found this one print that I like (linked below), but I'd love to have more options. My preference is to buy a ready-made panel, but I'll sew if I must. ;o)

I've checked Calico Corners, Etsy, Amy Butler, PB, Ballard and eBay. Any other suggestions?

It's on an empty wall to the back yard, across from our kitchen counter/cabs. I don't have a pic (I am at work...shhhh!). The island is in front of the patio door and kitchen table is in front of the window. Thanks for the mock up. That does look nice, and that's what I was thinking! I just couldn't "visualize it". Nice kitchen and window over the sink! I stare at a wall...I do want to be able to able to close the curtains for privacy at night and possibly to keep it cool in the morning (faces east) so valances will not work.

Unfortunately, relying on other people to interpret and describe colors is just about as tough as deciding from other online sources. If you can't shop in person, then I'd pick the ones that look the closest to what you're envisioning and see if you can order just pillow cases (easier and less expensive to return). Or find a source that has a generous return policy, maybe free shipping, free returns?

oh, ok, that's better. yeah, I'd incorporate the entire space and build up underneath the stairs. do a nook or desk area for the kids. why don't you look at 'built ins under staircase' ideas and look at all the pics? you could easily enclose that one side that steps down. bring up a wall and have all sorts of things. imagine this one wall going up to the stairs and now you have this enclose little bench/reading spot I'd probably remove the step up altogether and take it down level w/the floor. you'd still keep your step at the beginning of the stairs, but this one portion, make it like shown above this make sense? extra storage if you level that 'stage', then you could do something like this w/pull out drawers and a little play area so many cool ideas. but definitely remove the step-up

If you want curtains specifically I’d have them installed with a crown molding over it. So no one can see the rod/mechanics. It’ll make the asymmetry less noticeable. And it also looks really nice that way...

I found this site that does custom grommet panels and gives pricing on the web, you pick your fabric and the choices are endless. The grommets are a more contemporary look but nothing beats them for sliding a panel back and forth.

Not sure if this helps, but in our summer cottage we have a large "closet" that houses the washer and dryer. When we bought the house, there were ugly louvered bifold doors there. I removed the doors and put up a tension shower curtain rod, and bought two shower curtains and hung them from the rod on metal rings. It was a very inexpensive solution. There are so many cute shower curtains, maybe you could find one that would work for you.

Fabric Depot has a great selection, especially in quilting (cotton) fabric. Check out Michael Miller, vintage and reproduction fabrics, and batiks.

You could use a twin size patchwork quilt and stitch large rings to the top instead of grommets. Buy an imported one that that looks like vintage fabric but really pieced together not printed. Wash it several times first so it looks old. Or if you have the coin find an authentic vintage quilt and hang that.

I don't know if you're near an Ikea, but they have great modern/vintage unique fabrics, some of which are available as curtains or shower curtains already.

here are some shower curtains available at walmart!

No green/yellow in here, but you've got your raspberry!

I just posted a question looking for anybody who has used iluvfabrix. Have you ordered from them? I ordered some upholstery fabric samples, and they are gorgeous. I want to order over $2,000 of fabric, but I can't find much on the internet to recommend (or not) them. I've read blogs about fake fabric interet companies, and I don't want to be conned. Please tell me what you know about the company. Thanks, Karen

Karen: You've been posting your concerns all over the place. I checked out their website. Googled them, etc. for you. I wouldn't be too concerned about their legitimacy. If you are, order small at first and get first hand experience with them. You can also do a search with the El Paso BBB.
