I don't know how to edit, I found one with our counter installed. You can't see, but to the left, the counter ends in the middle of a wall (not against a molding):

I have subways & only 1 area where the tile ends on a wall - it is lined up w/the outside of upper (as shown in above link)

You could bullnose at the end run but not necessary

Anyone else have any experience with ending tile without a bullnose? I've heard of some metal transition strip or even grouting the outside line.

Also, is the backsplash supposed to line up with the upper cab or the end of the counter????

I think it's all a matter of preference. I like mine to line up with the upper cab as opposed to following the rest of the counter. But I've seen it done the rest of counter lining up and it looks very nice too.

You might do both stagger it at the end. Like bernice442 did on her wall side.

Not sure what your question entails. Are you looking for a way of getting a finished edge on the tile, because it doesn't butt up to a molding, and there are no trim pieces for that tile? Then I think you can get metal transition strips to finish the tile edge. Schluter makes some. I know there's a woman on the bathrooms forum who did a contemporary bath recently using these metal strips, you can search that forum.

If you're asking where the tile should land with relation to the cabinets/counter etc. that's a different question.

I'm wondering if the stainless metal strips would look nice. We have stainless knobs and appliances. Maybe they'll tie in well? I will do a search on the bath forum.

The stainless strips will work fine. One other thing you might try is making your own bullnose, using a sander, with varying grits, from about a 50 grit down to about a 200 or 400 grit. You'd probably have to take the pieces off the mounting and do them one at a time and then install them the same way, but it can definitely be done.

It looks like a travertine and they have lots of bullnose edges in strips of
different sizes that can make a finished edge. From a pencil edge to more of
a molding trim.
I recently used it in my bathroom to finish the top edge of a wall, sorry no picture to show right now.

I used glass mosaic in my last house and I simply ended it neatly against the painted wall. They were the low-end Daltiles and did not have any bullnose pieces or edging, plus I wanted a very clean, modern look. I was worried it would look weird, or fall off after time, or something, but it was great.
