I have no idea what book you are referring to, if it is the Pioneer Woman who has the blog or a series about a Pioneer Woman with an author, but usually you can go to Amazon and tell by the publishing dates. If it is the one with the blog its The Pioneer Woman Cooks published in 2009 that my granddaughter stood in line for several hours to purchase and have autographed to give to me for Christmas. Incidentally, I also have one which is very good called Women's Diaries of the Westward Journey, covering 1851 to 1867, by Lillian Schlissel published in 1982, with a lot of pictures, which surprised me.

I found a Pioneer Woman's cook book at Barnes and Noble but would not buy it. Too many pictures (of scenry) and not enough receipes. Very expensive and the receipes were not very good.= or old. I think there are some out there that are copy cats.

I have found that pretty much every recipe of hers that I have ever tried has been delicious. I don't have her cookbook though as her blog has a ton of recipes already.

You are right about her recipes, I think the interest in her cookbooks is mainly from followers of her blog and the pictures would be of more interest to them. I have followed her blog for years, way before she became so famous, but found in more interesting then. Maybe because I've seen and read it all before.

Her first book is Pioneer women cooks.

I just finished reading a book by the pioneer woman which I believe is her first non-cookbook, title is Pioneer Woman: Black Heels to Tractor Wheels, a Love Story. Published 2011. Although it is not a cookbook, there are some recipes included at the end of the book. Below is the OCLC WorldCat record for the book, including the cover illustration.

I have both books and we have never been disappointed by one of her recipes.

She has two children's books too - I'll have to order the second book as we are a small town with no book store and my grandson loved her first book - Charlie, the Ranch Dog... My DGS is borderline Autistic and ADD but reads everything he can find (and he's only in the first grade) I like her way of writing...

Thanks all. I really didn't want a cookbook. I will like to read about her, as I lived in the general area for about 25 years... when I lived in Ponca City, Oklahoma.

I already spied the dog book and have it on my wish list at amazon.
