Garlic World in Gilroy

On our trip to San Francisco, Sacramento, and South Lake Tahoe, we managed to stop at Garlic World, where I bought an 18-20" garlic braid (with about 36 heads, I think) for $17.50, which I thought was a bit expensive, since it amounts to 50 per head, and I normally get three for a dollar at the market. However, I am hoping that this garlic will be better, and at least I know it is not coming from China.

Does this seem like a reasonable buy to you? I'm thinking it will last me a whole year, or at least half a year, and I also wonder if I can plant some of it. Any tips on this?

In addition, I also bought toasted garlic almonds, garlic olives (not the garlic stuffed olives - those were too expensive), and some wasabi sauce in a jar. Fortunately, the shop was on Highway 101, or we would not have seen it. From L.A., we drove Highway 1 to Oxnard and then took 101 to S.F. to avoid the boring I5 freeway. We stopped in

San Luis Obispo for lunch, and then had a fantastic dinner at an upscale Peruvian restaurant on Fillmore Street in Pacific Heights. For brunch on Sunday, we went to Tangerine Restaurant, which is in the building where I used to work as a pastry chef for Island Restaurant. I had a blue crab omelet that was fantastic. I'll try to get pictures by the end of the week.
