My day started out early and I went grocery shopping with Amber and Alyssa. First stop Target, second stop Kohl's and I stayed in the truck with the baby, next stop was Sirloin Stockade and we had some great food. A man came by and gave Alyssa a dollar bill. I guess because she was so cute and laughing and waving at him. She was very happy to get her dollar and smiled and waved and waved it. From there I went to Goodwill and got some goodies. Last stop was the grocery store and by that time I was ready to come home. It is a beautiful day here, sunny, breezy and temps up around 69 or more.

My day started early, too. Mainly because I couldn't go back to sleep. Harry had to have a fasting blood test in town at 10:15 and after that he was so hungry we stopped at Waffle House for breakfast/lunch.

When we got home, my sister called and that's always about a 2-hour conversation. After that I had to call the CHF clinic at VA to find out more info on the test Harry has to have soon. Good thing I did. They wanted to schedule him for an MRI, which he absolutely cannot have with his pacemaker. Got two of his meds refilled at the same time.

Now I'm just catching up on posts and waiting to warm up leftovers for dinner.

It was a sort of anti-climatic day here today.....our blizzard of the century did not materialize. We had cancelled out quilting at church, so I figured I had lots of time to just dawdle around, which I have done. Have a couple of pans of oatmeal pecan bread ready for the oven.

Its almost 50 here in the sunny south. Granddaughter spent the night with us last night and she and I made a lemon chiffon pie early this morning. We didn't have graham crackers so we used saltine crackers and the salty makes a good crust for the sweet taste of the lemon pie. Marilyn Sue, how very exciting awating the birth of a new granddaughter. I am in my seventies and how I love time with the two little ones that we have now. After lunch we are walking on the beach and playing in the sand. Its great to have a reason to build sand castles when you are old. So just a lazy day of play for us today. The two of us worked a total of 80 years to get to the place that we can play all day if we choose.

Mine was my childhood home until maybe 6th grade. It was a big house (well, I'm sure it seemed bigger than it actually was at that age!), the exterior was grey with white trim, black shutters and a red door, built atop a large hill with a retaining wall on one side, so high that the neighboring garage (2 story commercial building) had a roofline level with our yard. The stairs from the sidewalk was a chore, even in today's day and age, I couldn't imagine having to deal with that daily. There were huge oak trees in the back yard, it was a very private space, and we had a pool, my siblings would jump off the tree branches into the pool, I was too small at the time. I loved playing in the leaves in the fall, our back yard would be completely covered once all the leaves dropped. We had a large bathroom, the area with the sink was sunken, and on the elevation was the commode and bathtub, the walls and decor were black and white themed with ornate wallpaper. The kitchen was big, I'd love to have a kitchen that size, and there was a winding staircase going to the second floor, and on the landing was a window...looking out the window, given that we were on a hill, was a long way down. So, I remember as a child I always had this irrational fear that I would fall down the stairs and out the window from that landing. LOL. I loved that house, so many fond memories. Today, that house is no longer there, probably a liability due to it's location high up on a hill (all neighboring houses were at a lower grade) coupled with the maintenance that came with the retaining wall, but I just adore houses with similar color themes.

Wow, Diana, you've got some great ideas in your photos. I especially like the clear box frames for holding small items - and I happen to have some of them available. My sewing room is medium size and crammed full! My house is old and so on the outside wall overlooking the backyard, I have two large windows butted up against each other with a built-in glass front shelf unit on each end of the window area. These built-in glass door shelves hold most of my fabric, one side for quilting and the other side for fashion sewing but the quilt stash has spilled over here too. My large, heavy folding table sits in the area directly in front of the windows. This table holds my Viking Quilt Designer and my Brother serger. At the table to the right of my desk chair on wheels, I have a set of plastic, rolling drawers (from Office Depot) and a trash can. On the left wall is a book case for books, magazines, mailing envelopes (love those swaps!), etc. To the right of this bookcase is an old oak sewing machine cabinet that actually belongs to my sister. On top of this is a portable radio/CD player and stacks of CDs. On the right wall is my design wall made with flannel backed vinyl tablecloth fabric from Wal-mart hung with saftey pins and nails in the wall. Just in front of the design wall is my ironing board, which stays up all the time. On the wall behind me as I sit at my sewing table is the door to the bedroom and a large 3 ft. by 5 ft. cutting table. This was a solid door I got for $10 dollars and friends helped me put saw horse legs on it. Under the table I have a plastic drawer unit to hold interfacing, fusible web, my collection of kitchen towel fabric, and works in progress. I also have a number of plastic, lidded, shoebox type storage boxes for more quilt fabric stash and works in progress (doesn't that sound better than UFOs?). There is another trash can at the cutting table, a ruler holder sits on top of the cutting table, and there are hooks for tape measures and rotarty cutters just under the cutting table. Computer paper boxes under the table hold my clothing patterns. There is a small closet in the room where I store bolts of curtain fabric, heavy white duck cloth, and freebie fabrics I can get where I work. But the closet has a window in it so I have to be careful what I store in there because of the light fading issue. As I type this, I'm thinking "what a neat and tidy room." But that is not the case because I have stacks of fabric in bags, various tote bags and wheeled totes, machine covers, and stacks of just plain "stuff" everywhere. Hey, I'm creative - I don't have to be tidy too! LOL! Here is a photo of my cutting table with storage underneath. This never looks as tidy as it is in this picture - LOL!

Hi Walks....that's a weird keyboard quirk that you have there...Don't be embarassed though....this turned out to be the most popular thread in perhaps the history of TSL..way to go!.......As far as my daugther, it's a permanent visit. A combination of missing her mother and things not going well at school here...She's a senior this year and I hated to see her do it (my entire family has tried to talk her into waiting just a few more months) but she has her mind made up. She is enrolled in a school down there now but with different graduation criteria, she is looking at summer school in order to get her diploma. She has driven me crazy the last few weeks but I think that this is the best for both of us. I'll start the next "How was..." thread unless someone beats me to it and put a "6" in there in honor of you..gigglin' As far as cats go, this one that I "inherited" is going to have to be shaved before long...it's a long hair mix breed that's starting to mat up and no way am I going to try to clip it out...heh

It was cold this morning, started a fire in the wood stove first thing, vacuumed, surfed the web, cleaned up the kitchen, did 2 loads of laundry, walked out to the road and brought the garbage can back, had lunch. Now I'm waiting for my shift to start.

Exciting, huh?

My day started like any other work day.

Alarm goes off at 6:15am. I stumble out to the sofa, pick up my laptop, check email and the KT. I add a photo to the daily "...Show me yours" post and then check my Facebook page. Might play a round or two of Spider Solitaire.

7:15am, I close my laptop and head to the shower, plugging in my curling iron and clothes iron before hopping in.

7:30am, dry hair, put on makeup, press clothes (after I've sorted through and rejected a number of options), dress.

8:00am, take vitamins, maybe eat a bite of something.

8:15am, head to work.

8:30am, work day and headaches begin. I check the KT and FB several times a day just as a sanity check and mental health exercise. :-)

After that, it's anyone's guess. Work as a designer is so deadline and project driven that I seldom get a break of any kind during the day, and often have to cancel lunch or evening plans.

Once home again (can be any time between 6:30pm and 10pm) I often shower and then settle in on the sofa again and watch TV programs I've recorded. And of course check all my fav places while watching TV.

Midnight - 1:30am, head to bed only to start it all over again the next morning. ugh

I got up at 8. I love sleeping in since I retired. Downstairs for coffee and cereal and watch the news. Then I checked email, Facebook and GW. Gave the kitchen a good cleaning. Back up stairs to shower and dress. Everything needed to be ironed. In the meantime I am checking my laptop for things that come into my mind. Called the optician to see if my glasses are ready (no). Made a Trader Joe's pizza for lunch, then headed to the library to do my volunteer stint.

The library was crazy today. So many people asking crazy questions over the desk or on the phone. I stayed an extra 45 minutes because it was so nuts and one staff person was not there.

Home, brought in the mail and checked email and FB and GW, and here I am!
