Bacon Candy!

1 lb Bacon (not thick-cut)

1/4 cup Brown sugar

Cooking Instructions

Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.

Slice bacon into 1/2 inch strips and dredge in brown sugar until thoroughly coated.

Crumple aluminum foil to allow for grease drainage and place it on a baking sheet. Lay out the bacon on this making sure not to overlap pieces.

Bake until crispy. Allow to cool and harden before serving.

Bacon is perhaps my favorite food in the world (besides chocolate, of course). Don't need to put anything on it at all -- just crispy bacon and I'm a happy camper.

Ginger, you know I don't usually come over here, I hardly ever even lurk! But, somehow I did tonight and saw your post about Marlen. It really is bittersweet, I just made "Marlen's Bacon Pull Apart Bread" over the weekend and my cousin asked for the recipe and I mentioned it on the C/F the other day. flyleft, I never wear heals. I usually wear some type of comfort shoe. I also had orthotics made and just started wearing them. sjerin, My pain is close to the kidneys. Sorry to hijack your post Bill. I appreciate all of you trying to help me. I have had back pain for many years and have tried just about everything except medication. I also have very bad TMJ and just this past year I went for weekly treatments. (that's another long story). The TMJ got worse from the treatments and now I have both back pain and jaw pain. Bill, I know you said the hypnosis didn't work for your smoking but I read that back pain is easier to help with hypnosis. When I am relaxed the pain is a lot less pronounced. Don't worry about me, so many other people on this forum have a lot worse health issues than me. thanks for the concern, Donna

bathtub drain stopper

Justin - I'm assuming you have a fiberglass tub. Doesn't really matter though... You have already stated that the control for the Drain/Fill is not working. Unless you have access to the bottom, and the front of the tub - you are NOT going to fix that. The portion which the stopper goes into - has a nut underneath it; and a flange on the top - it is then screwed (literally) onto the tub. Sealant is applied to the bottom during installation - so that it does not leak. And then a drain pipe and controls connect to all of that; including the pipe holding the control to pop up or close the drain... Since your tub does not have a working stopper... First, make sure the tub stopper area is clean and smooth. Then, either a flat Rubber stopper which can be placed over the top of the bottom of the tub (water pressure ends up sealing) can be used... We trusted our kids, too, and were never disappointed. We always allowed flexibility with deadlines like suppertime and when to be in for the night, and it was never abused. The kids knew we were always home, to call us for any reason at any time if they needed to. Just this last winter our dtr, AGE 26 (TWENTY-SIX!!! She's the 5th of our six kids) called at 1:30 AM to ask Dad to pick her up downtown because she was sober, her friends were drunk and she wasn't driving. He did, told me she was very upset, said things like "We're 26! They're such jerks!" Keep the lines open. It's great that DS wants her to come to your house! Don't worry about cleaning or what to eat, just make it a pleasant place to be. Kids like reasonable rules - and they expect to "Keep the door open" unless there is a gang in there...then YOU'll want it closed! Here is something that always made me kind of mad, yet it was kind of a compliment: Other mothers would tell their kids, "If it's OK with Mrs. M, it's OK with me." They didn't have to argue with their kids - I took the pressure off for them. It was always our house the kids hung around, from pre-school through college. Sounds like you might be the standard-setter for your kids' friends, too. Nice that the girlfriend's mom sounds reasonable, too. I had my share of "discussions" with other mothers, and sometimes you have to be the bigger jerk. It's not easy watching their hearts break when it comes to that. My kids had close friends break their hearts with bad decisions, mean things, etc., as they were growing up, as well as the BF-GF breakups. It's often the end of the world, but it's the way the world goes on. Be a good listener. You've got a good kid there, and that's the way he'll stay.

Glazed bacon is delish..mix in a bit of chili powder or cayenne into the brown sugar for a "bite".. Devine!

I have made this several times. I love it. Never any left at a potluck either. I cut mine into bite size pieces before I bake them. Just like eating a candy.

Think this would be good with turkey bacon? I love regular bacon but we only eat turkey now. Sure sounds good though!

Yes Glenda those puffs are wonderful, I just had some a minute ago :0) I made the hard crunchy one's, the puffs and now the balls. The puff balls are lighter & airy, I just like them all but I think the regular puffs are best.
