Adventures in chalk paint

I wanted to try chalk paint, but thought I'd try the DIY version first. So I found this little sewing cabinet at the thrift store and figured it would be a good storage unit in my scrapbook room.

I took the pix with my iphone so the quality isn't great, and I forgot to take pix before I started painting!

Before, I painted one door before I remembered to take a pic.

Making my own chalk paint was easier than I thought, and it really does go a long way. I found that I need to mix it up better, and I think if I can sift the unsanded grout a bit, it would make a less 'pebbley' finish that would lead to a smoother finish.

So, for a cheap cabinet for my scrap room, I'm happy. It distresses really easily and it was easy to apply wax, which really does give it a nice sheen. I used different knobs, but I'm not happy with these, so I might go with some white glass knobs so it closes better.
