Hiding a 6 inch filler on a Wood-Mode cabinet

Below is the side of my run of perimeter cabinets.

There is a six inch filler on the side because of the way the designer/owner of the Wood-Mode place ordered the cabinets.

The contractor-dealer-owner for our Wood-Mode design/build place suggested tiling over the side of the cabinet to hide the mismatched colors of Wood-Mode paint finishes. The shades of cream are not exactly the same and there is a visible seam.

Is tiling the side of a cabinet a good idea or would it move too much and cause premature cracking of the grout?

My primary worry is that the side of the cabinet (typical Wood-Mode or Brookhaven particle board) will flex with use and tiles will loosen.

I am also reluctant to use up my left over tile here as we might need it sometime somewhere else. We'd also have to order more rope to finish the side correctly. Another expense.

Any other ideas to conceal the seam and mixed color shades?
