What are those roses at Trader Joe's?
Comments (4)I bought roses from them over the years and they never were the same in the garden as in the store. I think they are greenhouse plants. The plants I grew had smaller flowers in the yard and the shrubs needed lots of spraying for fungal diseases. The only plus was there was 3 or 4 plants put into the same pot so you could divide them when you put them in the yard. I think they are so pretty, but they never performed that well for me in the garden as I hoped they would....See MoreNew plants from Trader Joe's (what is it?)
Comments (14)suivezmoi, Forgot to menition my carrier changed. It is now stanqk1@comcast.net. Roro, I coppied picture and blew it up and still see a huernia. I have some with 9 ribs, 8 ribs and 6 and 5 with 4 being the most common. My crested Huernia has 11 ribs. makes it very hard to count. Didn't see those leaves but my be the soft spines of huernia. Right now I am a Huernia addact and seeing them everywhere so maybe my brain is the one not working. Also forgot to add my good wishes to your son as well. I had them once and can not remember a more painful experience. God bless. Stush...See MoreWhat to try at Trader Joe's?
Comments (12)I asked this same question over a year ago, when my experiences at TJ's were mostly failures. Since the, I've come to love the store, but it is hit or miss. As long as you know what's good there, it's terrific. Here are some things I like: - cereal - milton's breads (with 5 grams fiber/slice) - banana choc. chip muffins (6 pack) with 7 grams protein (great snack for kids in school) - various cheeses - good prices on empire chicken - whole and pieces - trader giotto's frozen pizzas (not the refrigerated ones) - frozen brown rice - box of 3 pouches (heats in 3 minutes and is quite good) - ciabotti rolls - frozen cheddar and potato perogi's - frozen little chocolate cheesecakes (thaws in 10 minutes - very handy for unplanned desserts) By the way, I bought frozen tilapia there - and also some fresh from Costco's that I had frozen. I was making a big batch of fish, so I used both. Hands down, Costco's was better. Really fresh and inexpensive. The TJ's wasn't bad - but it wasn't good either. If it had been my first taste of tilapia, it would also have been my last. I have a question for TJ'ers - Ive gotten flank steak there several times. The first few times I thought it was very good (it's prepackaged from New Zealand), but the last time wasn't very good - I just don't know if that was the meat or we overgrilled it or undertrimmed the silverskin. then I had flank steak from Costco which was excellent (and cooked correctly). So in retrospect, I wonder how TJ's flank steak is. Any opinions? Lynn....See MoreWhat NOT to buy at Trader Joe's
Comments (29)Yuck. And i like brussels. They roast fine if not too big or larger ones cut in half. Small ones roasted whole i cut the root end off then poke with a paring knife into the stem a bit. Parboil helps before roasting. In the winter i buy peas, baby limas and spinach frozen. Don't care for anything but fresh for string beans. Tried freezing my garden beans but not so great....goes into the pups food. I recently purchased a bag of small sweet potatoes and small red onions. Both went in the pantry in their separate bins. A few sweet potatoes rotted and stuck to the shelf in just a few days. They were firm. Not happened to me ever. Had to scrub the shelf and put the basket through the dish washer. The last few red onions i used for burgers last week. One was rotten inside and the others could have been a bit more firm in such a short time. (do they buy surplus stock?) Makes me wonder. The closest store is too far away to return and closed on Sundays as all stores are in that area of NJ. Silly packaging....already sweet on their own.......See Moreannie1992
