Whipped Cream Dispenser?

Do any of you use the dispenser that whips the cream and dispenses like the Ready Whip containers? They use the little cartridges to charge them. I have a chance to get one for almost nothing and it would save a lot of time and mess in the RV if they really do the job properly.

Yes! For your cost of almost nothing, it's a great gadget. It's much easier to use on site, and keep what's leftover in the fridge until the dispenser is empty. You'll love it. I recommend you go ahead and buy a box of cartridges, because once you get started, you'll find yourself using it quite a lot.

I had this happen to me I bought a $2.50 Sunnyside farms ultra pasteurized heavy whipping cream and tried hand whipping it with a whisk and even my strong husband tried to help me whip it. We were at it for an hour and it just barely thickened. I did everything right:ice bath,gradual sugar and fast whipping. I gave up, and threw it in the fridge hoping I could salvage it. Next day, the top strangely grew thicker but bottom half was all liquid. I tried this time to use my electric hand mixer and mixed 1 tbsp of cornstarch to 1tbsp of hot water to dissolve and poured it in my whipping cream and started whipping on low then high speed and wow it worked and reached stiff peaks in about 1-3min !

My goodness! I ALWAYS whip cream in advance. It keeps at least 36 hours. I often add 10X powdered sugar and vanilla, or cocoa, powdered sugar and vanilla, or sometimes rum extract, and sometimes leave it plain. Never added gelatin or stabilzers, either. I've never had it separate, and the texture doesn't change. I use ordinary ultra pasteurized cream. I use it instead of frosting between the layers of lemon cake, and a chocolate-praline-ganache cake that gets raves - the next day! I do use an electric mixer, though. Once I over-mixed it and made butter! If I were you, I'd risk a half-pint and whip it up. Store it in a jar overnight and I'll bet you'll be pleasantly surprised! Then you''ll know you can safely whip it in advance of your party.

I use regular sugar and add cornstarch. I think I add about 1/4 tsp of cornstarch for each cup of cream, and it does help stabilize the cream. Before whipping the cream, I store the bowl and beaters in the freezer and make sure the cream is extremely cold. This way you can beat the cream a bit longer and make it stiffer without turning it into butter. Lars

I bought mine to use when taking meals to the field during harvest, but I use it all the time.

I think you would really like it for your RV.

Thank you everyone for your responses. Shortly after posting, my DH decided to take a trip into town and I went with him. While he was checking out things at Tractor Supply, I went next door and bought the whipped cream dispenser. I couldn't believe it was still there. Its an Isi with a package of 10 cartridges and I don't think its ever been used. It was at an indoor flea market that lots of people go to all the time and I had myself convinced it would be gone since I saw it on Monday. It cost me a whole $4. It will be handy in the RV because it won't require any time at all or mess, yet it will be used a lot in the house. Some interesting recipes with it, too. Thanks again for the responses and the link.
