I like the second version w/the bigger doors. More variety, with fewer vertical lines to draw the eye thru "the picture" instead of the constant up and down of the same-sized doors. Nice sketches of both. I have some art background and enjoy drawing cabinets too!

Differing view, I would prefer the smaller doors. My initial kitchen plan had 42" cabinets and I realized the doors would be huge at 21" so I opted to have additional cabinets with smaller doors instead of 2 with larger doors. Have you thought about using drawers? Much more useful than doors with rollouts.

I am trying to decide the exact same thing. My baking center is 42" wide. Though I want to put in glass doors and worry the big ones would be too heavy.

Since my cabinet is already up on the wall and I'm sort of using it, I'm leaning towards having one door as it will be cumbersome to open both to get out the things I want to store up there. If I planned on storing smaller sized items I think double doors would be fine.

I've got lots of cardboard on hand, I think I'll cut out some "doors" and see what looks better.

I chose to do 3 doors in my baking area that's about 48" wide...So one cabinet with double doors and one single-door cabinet. All of those doors are narrow, especially the tall ones because of proportion. Have you considered single doors on the end and 3 in the center?

Are you sure you don't want any drawers?

With the narrow big doors, I think I'd keep the center doors smaller.

WHile the narrower doors do look quite busy - lots of lines! - I think the wide doors on the center section look out of proportion against the narrow doors on the outer sections.

Seconded on the drawers in the base cab though.

What do you plan to store in the center part? I think the narrow doors are pretty but my personal inclination is drawers on the lower and maybe glass insets on the upper. OR if you do the narrow, how about making 2 of them pullouts? I have some deep pantry cabinets and I lose things in the back...

If you know what you're storing where, that might help determine the most efficient cabinet configuration. (For example, if you're storing large serving platters, then the larger doors would work best.)

When I was designing kitchens , I always tried to keep the doors close to the same size. I think it looks better that way. I know it's more lines , but looks more thought out & proportional.
Now - i do agree about the drawers - if you can have them done at 16" d.

Thank you all so much for taking the time to give your opinions. It looks like 3 to 1 in favor of the smaller doors. My kitchen designer feels the small doors are "much to busy looking" so I just can't decide. I would add draws but the rest of the room has plenty of draws. Thanks again-Have a good weekend!
