The PO used rocks and bricks as bed borders in some places, and we have continued with that. I really do hope I have dug up my last HUGE rock, however!

If you use rocks as borders, I would recommend having a two-inch trench outside it. Fill with mulch and keep the grass at bay a bit...I saw this on a GWebber's photo site and hope to implement it someday.

we find at least 3 rock everytime we dig to plant a bush,flower.We fixed the barnyard wall,built a saltbox 4 bay garage with the stne,a stone retaining wall along our driveway,2 stone walls comming down from bothsides of barn entrance in front,a goldfish pond.

Where are you in NJ, Mike? If you're not gardening and don't want to build more stone walls :-) and you're looking to get rid of the rocks, I might take them. What kind of stone are they--basalt? Gray or orangey-brown?

If you're too far from me, I'm sure some avid gardener in NJ wants them! I have people come to my house a lot and ask if they can have the "pile of rocks." We're building lots of retaining walls and I also use them around the pond and as edging for all of my gardens similar to house vixen.

If you want to get rid of what you've already collected a simple ad in Freecycle..it's a cyber want ad that is designed for your own local area should do the trick.
Otherwise get creative....maybe start building baby a playhouse.

I am in Morris County NJ. I guess maybe there are not as many rocks as I let on, at least compared to some of you! I just have no idea what to do with them. I do not know what type they are, they are all different. I guess I could use them in my landscaping somewhere, maybe a rock garden? Maybe put them around a birdfeeder or something like that. I guess their number to be about 100+ most the size of my hand with about 10 fairly large ones. Thanks for the ideas, I might try freecycle.

We are collecting rock to re-do the entrance to our craftsman home. In our area, there was a spa built in the same arts and crafts style by the same owner and they made rock pilars, basically, to use as fence posts. That's a poor description, but if you've been looking at craftsman houses you may have some idea what I am talking about. The pilars start wide and narrow a bit at the top. They are 3-4 feet tall and hold up a wooden fence that is actually just two pieces of wood crossed like an "X." Geez, I think I may have some articulation problems today.
